The shower I and other lads are working for (about 20 nationally) are showing little or no interest in bringing this in. So, I’m wondering where we stand. Is there a cut off pont at which we will will not be allowed to work? Does our employer have to pay for this, can we do it off our own bat? We all been waiting for some info from work but, none seems forthcoming and we are beginning to get edgy. Plenty stones will bleed to death before our mangement cough up anything.
welcome to Trucknet-UK Chris
Big Chris:
The shower I and other lads are working for (about 20 nationally) are showing little or no interest in bringing this in. So, I’m wondering where we stand. Is there a cut off pont at which we will will not be allowed to work? Does our employer have to pay for this, can we do it off our own bat? - Assuming that you are all goods vehicle drivers and have grandfather rights the cut-off point is 9th September 2014.
. - Legally your employer does not have to pay for the DCPC training but that doesn’t mean you can’t try to persuade them to pay
. - You can organise it yourselves if you are prepared to pay for it yourself, if there’s a group of you then you could probably do a decent deal with a trainer.
If you let it be known that in order to keep the costs down, together you are organising a training session for all 20 drivers on the same work day you may find your employer a little more forthcoming
Thanks for the reply Tachograph, I been around the place a while but never posted before The company brought in CSCS cards, Driver cards and paid for them under the Health and safety at work act, seeing as we needed them as part of our work so, we’ve all assumed they would do the same for the CPC. What little grumble we hear on the grapevine is that our manager is pecking head office for the info but, as I said none is forthcoming. The only good thing to happen lately and you won’t hear this said a lot was a VOSA inspection onsite of some of the trucks. We all got some new stuff as the company was ■■■■■■■■ it.
