I know some drivers who have sat through the same course 5 times,

When i did my 5 day block this happened on a couple of days.

D.Thompson:
Well 5,800 people agree with the way he worded it and i still hope it gets to 10,000 so we can see how they respond.

So? The Flat Earth Society probably has more than 5,800 members, but they are all very clearly wrong/insane/thick as the proverbial two short planks (delete as applicable), whereas the people who decide what rules and regulations the country needs to have do tend to be a little more rational.

When the government responds it’s always nothing - “We have looked at this and it’s not happening”. Thta’s what you’ll get.

I couldn’t agree more.

Once upon a time, but that has not been permitted for the last ten months: the DCPC provider I recommend to my drivers begins every course with an update of the latest changes, one of which is that, as of November 2020, you are no longer allowed to repeat the same course within a five year period, unless it is to renew a vocational qualification or as “remedial training” because of infringements such as drivers hours or load security.

Thanks for letting us know, i will dread my next 7 hours (due shortly) a little less knowing that.

Its had been generally agreed in the thread his wording could have been better and he definitely should not have said its DCPC that has caused the shortage, i imagine many of those who voted (now 5,852) did so as a protest against DCPC not because they really believed DCPC caused drivers to leave the industry.

Do you not think you’d have more success petitioning your company to find a better, more engaging DCPC provider? If you were in the North east I’d certainly be able to recommend someone.

Alternatively, all those people who reckon DCPC is dull and the trainers are rubbish, could pool their resources, jump through all the bureaucratic hoops (and there are lots) and have theirselves approved as DCPC trainers with superbly relevant courses, and they could do it at a rate they think is fair to drivers.

If only half of what people complain about was in fact true, this anarchic collective of drivers-turned-trainers would be making a mint.

Won’t happen though.

I am not having a pop at the trainers the bloke we have is a good laugh (its always he same guy) but its 7 hours because they decided it has to be 7 hours not because it needs to be 7 hours, why not 4 hours which would be a lot more bearable and i am sure the info could still be given in the shorter time.

So basically, your complaint is about is those three hours that you feel are unnecessary? If your trainer is as engaging as you say, then you’re ahead of the game. The guy I used to get sent to my my DCPC at my previous full time job was very very dull, same bad jokes every time, and you really did your FULL seven hours with him, because he hung on to your licence until about two minutes from the end.

If you had taken the time to read thorough the full thread you would know that that is just one of my gripes, have a look at the new thread on the subject -

Yes I have read the full thread in all it’s tedium, and that is precisely what I had in mind when I posted in this other thread

I have no idea what you’ve been looking at, I don’t see anyone objecting to my point of view.

Really?

I’ve not been on this forum long, but since I’ve been on here I’ve only seen helpful and positive comments. Although, I only look at this wannabe forum

You always get a few negative comments often from those who have had a not too good experience at some point but in general I would say most give good advice

First of all, you should post this in the main forum to see the crap that will get thrown at you.
Secondly, i think you mean aspiring not inspiring

Ask yourself why. Really, really, really, really stop and THINK.
If it’s such an amazing career why are there so many negative replies from guys that are doing the job? Because they’re telling you the truth.

D Thompson, Your reply to my post suggested that people were objecting specifically to my view, what you’ve quoted there has no connection to me.

So when you posted in your OP -

I understand this industry has its issues but my word this forum is so negative. Many comments are critical and members seem to try their best to put everyone and anyone off.

And the member posted this in reply to the thread (and the other quotes i posted) you don’t see the connection to what you posted in your original post

There’s your problem: Those comments in the second quote weren’t made by me but by Tlgamble, if you’d taken a moment to read my post properly you would have seen I was quoting another comment by him/her/pronoun-of-choice. My post stated that drivers are, as a general rule, naturally prone to complaining.

I did clearly state those comments had no connection to me; that was the point for you to go back and fact-check who you’re quoting, so it looks to me like you are clearly going down the road of an ad hominem argument, and the wrong road at that because you’re not checking your facts (much like the petition in question).

Have your complaints about DCPC as much as you like, but it isn’t going away, and even if that petition did get 10,000 votes and did get a government response, it will merely be a very lengthy worded version of “no”.

My post stated that drivers are, as a general rule, naturally prone to complaining.

You open a thread stating the above any comment on your statement may not be directly at the OP directly but you own it because you started the thread if you don’t like that fact i suggest you stop opening threads its a forum ffs that’s how it works. :unamused:
