CPC Renewal

My licence expired in November and didn’t therefore qualify for the 7 month extension (clearly some clever individual made this decision!)

Can someone tell me, do i need to re-take the test or just complete the 35hrs training?
Thanks

DCPC has nothing to do with your LGV licence.

If your DCPC has expired you need to do 35hrs periodic training. If it hasn’t then you don’t. The expiry date will be on the card.

I meant my CPC licence… not LGV
Ok so what you are saying is i need to do the 35hr classroom (or internet) course and then apply for a new CPC card? - not a test like when you first get it?

is there are period of time that, if i left it expired, i would then have to take the actual test at test centre?

Hi there is no test you do your 35 hours either in the classroom or online and you should get your card about a week later cheers Ray

When you first do your class 2, most people do that “initial CPC” with the mod 2 theory and walkaround checks aka mod 4 at a test centre. Thats only done once and gives you 5 years valid CPC.

After that you need to do the classroom (real or virtual) within 5 years to refresh your CPC. Each day gives you 7 hours and you need 35 hours total to get the new card.

If yours has expired, you’ll need to do the full 35 hours now to continue driving commercially. Once you complete the 35 hours they’ll send the card to the address on your licence.

Each course can cover different topics and you can usually pick and chose. Thrres all sorts normally available from driver hours and tachos, to first aid although doubt that’s running currently.

There’s no exam for these CPC courses, just try to stay awake.

And you can no longer repeat a course, they all have to be different topics, unless there’s a particular reason, eg “remedial” training for those drivers who can’t stop getting infringements.
Despite the general view, they don’t all have to be a guaranteed snoozefest, some providers are better than others.

You can also spend more thn one session on topic if it’s a requirement: ie an ADR course.

Only the training counts towards your hours…I don’t think exams or tests do

I wonder, does anyone do Transport Manager CPC training as a JAUPT course so it counts for Driver CPC?
