Hello all. I need some advice. I’m coming to the end of my driving career, my own choice… My son owns a shop in France, and wants me to help with replenishing his stock now and then from England. He is sorting customs, vat and so on.
My question is, would I need to take a cpc course to drive 3.5 ton box van, as I’m delivering to him. I know a tacho is not required, unless it’s over a certain weight with trailer…

Easy answer, no. It’s not a requirement for a 3.5 tonne van.

Thank you for the answer. Would I be correct in saying that I would only need commercial insurance plus other associated documents relating to vehicle being mine, (tax and mot). My son would sort customs and that’s it?
Many thanks again.

Correct. Make sure you take your log book too plus any other things required for France, hi vis, warning triangle etc. I’m sure other regular French flyers will give more comprehensive details of your requirements. Franglais is your man.
