CPC Initial or 35hrs training

Morning folks,

Probably an easy solution to this but, I’m getting so many different answers. So I have my class C passed on 3/2010 but I’ve never driven professionally. I also have my C1 dated from 11/94. Now some folks are saying I need to do a initial CPC and all 4 parts and some are saying I need only do the 35hrs and get myself a Tacho card? I’ve been driving class c since 2010 on a exemption, so never had to have CPC.

What are my options please? And what would be the best route into the artic world?

Many thanks.

Your choice - do two pass/fail tests Mods 2+4 or do 35 hours attendance/no tests training
Most go for the 35

Thanks for the quick response Rog. Hopefully I’ll be on the road in no time!

As ROG has said, the choice is yours.

Your route to CE (Class One) is simple. Take the course and pass the test. No theory tests required and no involvement with driver cpc (unless you are following the 35 hour route in which case you may be able to get some of your training time credited to the 35 hours. You must check that this facility is available from your trainer - it’s certainly not a given).

For information, we offer 2 artic courses.
The first is 14 hours + test at a cost of £1350. Suitable only for folks with some trailer reversing experience. Anything from a caravan will count.
The second is 20 hours + test at a cost of £1530.

In both cases:

Reverse practice at our private test centre. (Correctly marked and the same concrete on which you’ll be tested)
All instructors are fully trained, qualified and registered. (Not the norm - scary though that is!)
Full size artics so nothing to frighten you when you start work.
1:1 training
Free accommodation if you live more than 70 miles from NG17
3FW
No hidden extras. Prices include VAT, test fee, insurance etc.
Pass Protection available @ £300. This covers retest fees THREE times.

Very happy to answer any questions; just fire away.

Pete,

Thank you for the very informative reply, I shall definitely look at your courses and site regarding further training.

Next question. CPC again debate by employer. My employer is claiming that I do not need a CPC when driving class 2 recovery vehicles. This is apparently covered under “ GB domestic rules” I have asked for confirmation and they claim that recovery work under 100k is in scope and exempt. However I believe it can be Tacho exempt but NOT CPC exempt.

Any help greatly appreciated. Much thanks

See if they can find the exemption in the list
