CPC Card Expired

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone can help me with this.

For various reasons I let my CPC card expire (I’m not currently working in the industry but want to keep my options open for the future) I have passed class 2 and cat D Bus licence, is it possible to redo my CPC training but still ensure I am able to use the CPC for both bus and class 2.
Would I need to do certain modules to enable this or would any of the training for CPC be acceptable to satisfy both bus and class 2.

Thanks for your help

The 35 hours of periodic training covers you for both type of vehicle.

I was going to dispute that but then I saw this

That’s great news as I honestly thought it wouldn’t because the bus is passenger focused. So I can moonlight on coaches after all :laughing:. No I wouldn’t before I get roasted

I thought that some modules of periodic CPC training do cover both passenger and goods, but some don’t?
Example here:CPC Safe and Secure Loading - Fleet & Driver Management
Safe loading training isn’t much use in operating buses.

Open to correction.

That does not seem like a very suitable course for a bus/coach driver but if you have both HGV and PCV entitlement on your licence I believe it would count towards the 35 hours DCPC periodic training for both.

I could be wrong though, so my advice would be to check with the course provider

On the page you’ve linked to, where it says “Who should attend?” it states “Any professional driver who needs to complete 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years in order to maintain their Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

Yep. It also says:
Suitable for: Licences (C1, D1, C, CE)
It omits D, which is what gave me doubts. But then again, including D1, but not D, is also strange.

Edit to add
Found a couple of other courses here, of which “Risk Awareness” is labeled as suitable for both HGV and PCV, and “Loading and Unloading” is labelled as for “HGV” but not PSV drivers.
