Never heard the term before myslf but a bit of googling suggests it originated in the USA Marines Corps as a term for the general public - the term may have made it to UK forces and may be JJ is from their, alternatively, too many special Ops movies have been watched.

Im ex military (British) but the term is along those lines, its USA slang for someone recently discharged from the army…‘civilian division’…

This has turned into nothing more than a slanging match now, the OPs had the answers he needed and he’s smart enough to know who to listen to and who to ignore.
We’ve all made mistakes and I’m sure we’ve all done daft things on the odd occasion, I’m equally sure it’s obvious to the OP that most of us wish him well in court.
No-one seems to have anything more to add in reply to the OPs question so I’m locking this thread now.
