In around another weeks time when things inevitably get a bit worse who reckons their place will put the pressure on to max out these new regs that the government have issued. For example ‘I know you have work 5 days with 4 9h rests but if you could just drive till your extended 11h and get that last tip done it would really help?..
Also when half of us have been floored by then with the waiting room ■■■■■■■ situation, how many will soldier on and go out and ‘do their bit’ if they fall ill out of fear of losing their jobs, or out of sheer madness?
Hows about getting drivers with no driver cpc traing who ■■■■■■ off and havent renewed ot coming back into force and reversing wagons blindsde for fun.

Im not of them to note. Imn just a white van man
I’ve emailed them this morning in regards of not being able to do the 21 hours required any time soon, because trainers have suspended courses till further notice, there may well be drivers out there that still need 7 hours to renew their cards which may be expiring soon, will wait for an answer from them.
Personally hours etc shouldt change.
As way i see it as quick as shelves fill people just empty them .
So quicker you fill them the quicker there empty
It’s a never ending circle.
In.my eyes
Should let the shelves empty. Then people who stockpile should eat there hoard. And be forced Into sharing it with neighbours.
Just carry on as normal let the shelves empty I say
And there be a point when everyone has enough
TBH I dont see the need for the extensions/relaxation, there are so many drivers out there that are not hauling anything at the moment that will fill the need for food delivery. We have a load of events wagons pulling for us and I’ve seen many other supermarket and food trailers pulled by events companies and box companies. We still have drivers who are only doing their contracted 45hrs a week too.
Tanker drivers are going to have hours cut as people arent travelling anywhere so theres some more units and drivers, useful to have some of those kicking around with ADR to hopefully pull some oxygen tanks around if need be too.

If it comes to that that is?
Strange how the government thinks it’s ok to have knackered over worked drivers running around the place but no lifting of Tacho regs,DCPC, and drivers medicals, assuming no pre existing known underlying licence affecting issues, so retired semi retired drivers like me can get back to work for the duration of this ‘emergency’.Or for that matter insurance companies and employers forced to drop the ‘experience’ bs so more drivers can get into the job to help.
Also why no lifting of dimensions and gross weight limits allowing LHV’s.
As for drivers forced to crowd together in 'waiting rooms grow a pair.Keep the keys and if they try to stop you then refuse to put the thing on the dock.
It all seems a bit too conveniently selective.Either it’s an emergency or it ain’t.

I’m up for a call to come back to the job for the duration. No need for tacho card a log book will do, ditch the DCPC, no need for a medical no licence threatening illnesses. Also ditch the bs ‘experience’ thing so new drivers can also help.Just don’t expect any load handling etc because my back is zb’d and they need the hospital beds.
While if I’ve read it right they’d rather have drivers doing reduced daily rests every day.Let me guess falling asleep at the wheel will carry the same penalties and the effect will be the same because locked up drivers then can’t drive anything.
I agree there will be more drivers than needed at the moment. Especially with some aspects of general haulage and like said events drivers.
The uncertainty over the next few weeks however. For example if there is such a push for food produce and many drivers working overtime and crammed in small waiting areas. The chance of a large number contracting the virus at the same time and being unable to operate may well be an issue. Which is when some firms may put on the pressure.
They do have the luxury of having many self employed drivers still available due to the recent extension i suppose.

People are panic buying wherever and whenever they find stuff ‘because’ they see empty shelves. Not empty shelves because they are panic buying.
I’m seeing no queuing trucks at the supermarket bays all I’m seeing is empty shelves day after day from open to close. There are no new deliveries.

Biggest pile of Bull manure I’ve read on here (and thats saying something) So the 13-15hr days I and many of my colleagues in supermarket delivery are doing is a figment of our imaginations and we’ve been tucked up in bed dreaming about delivering to stores for the few weeks then. Clown.
There’s plenty of, trucks that can do traction only, just needs supermarkets, suppliers to. Offer the work, at a decent rate, also why can’t supplier load trucks with direct to store loads, saves on us getting unloaded, booking it in, re-loading onto there motors, then going to store, most towns have all major retailers, 90% of product is made by the same people just a different packet, so to load you for stores in 1 town, shouldn’t be difficult…
There is enough stock in supermarket distribution centres, the issue is that it can’t be offloaded from incoming deliveries, sorted then picked and loaded for onward delivery because it’s just constant panic buying. In my DC people are getting worn out, more bodies are being urgently employed, but they need to be interviewed ,trained how to work safety. Many teenagers are going to get a hard lesson in real work. Open days have been held this week and new workers are being fast tracked.

If you mean direct to store, even a large store wound be unable to cope with a full trailer of double stacked bog roll, no space in the limited stock room area for a start.

plus theres usually only turning/reversing circle space calculated to the inch for a poverty spec axor to jacknife in because all available groundspace is for the store.(not counting cages stacked overhaning the space in the 1st place)…
The only reason that there is a shortage of bog rolls - is that they are still in warehouses and on the backs of trucks - not finding themselves on shelves at shops fast enough for these mass hysteria fools that think they’ve written the book “101 uses for toilet paper, not including eating it as a supermodel”
We need to be wiping our arses on Euros at this point, and I’m pleased to see they are finally turning the corner downwards like the rest of the markets the establishment have wrecked of late…
There’s no shortage of bog rolls at supermarkets, at least not in Kent.

Feel free to explain empty shelves all day from ‘opening’ to closing time no replenishment of stock at any point and no trucks on the bays.

So tell us why is it that every time I’ve been to the supermarket during the last week the place was virtually deserted and just empty shelves of food and cleaning stuff and no one refilling them and no trucks at the unloading dock. It’s like that from open to close.
Any other time I’m moaning about shelf stackers getting in the way when you’re trying to get stuff.Especially if you go late like I prefer.

Maybe it’s to.do with online orders
Usually see pickers walking the aisles picking orders.
Maybe there all just picking it from the store room.
And what bits are left go.in the shelves.
