Pretty sure I had F762 VAF, a sister to Benneys Strato, for a time. This was after R&O traded it in and when Brian had it. That truck pulled like the very devil was breathing up her tail, and the jake would set car alarms off. I actually had someone come into a takeaway in Oxon and tell me there was something wrong with it!!! I finally remembered the number of the 401 I had, too LWN 834X.Any pics of J Hayne and son would be appreciated.
Oh, and I forgot Derek Mason had that 112. When was that pic taken, do you think? Trying to figure if it was poor old Brian Brayley driving it… Don’t think it was, it could have been Tony Morris.
was LWN834X an ex john raymonds
Im wondering if any one can help with a picture i used to own OCV101R and it was new to R & O they had a few ERF B Series at the same time with coresponding numbers

Don’t know if he’s even got this one anymore but i still see him around in his VW LT35 tipper (D-reg '86 i think).
Up until very recently he was running an F-plate ('89) Merc 1617 tipper that he had from new.

I can’t believe that this one hasn’t come up yet.
Anyone remember Layby Transport from Launston. I can’t be the only silly old b… that remembers them and their 2 waggons.
I was on Thompsons at that time spending a lot of time in Lifton handballing pudding.

Hi Steve,
Regarding your question about an Atkins owner driver from Penzance, it may have been my dad, Peter Henderson. He drove a Fiat for them out of Poole in Dorset, if I remember correctly. I remember his lorry was in the Atkins brown colours, and I think he had his own name on there somewhere. If this is the driver you’re talking about, he didn’t go on the trawlers. He actually did a PSV and went on the Buses. He drove the Penzance-Mousehole bus for years. Anyway, thanks for your post. It brought up a lot of memories.
