why do they need to keep your license[plastic part] and also the paper part,i can understand the paper bit to put points on but why do they need the plastic card
if there doing you for not being insured for the car your driving at the time why do they need to see the cerificate for the car your insured too drive
when there interviewing you in back of car are you allowed to make a phone call
if there going to seize car because they claim cars not insured, can they seize it if owner[insured for that car] turns up. .
if your insured for your own car fully comprehensive are you not allowed to drive any other car with the owners permission.
no but i know someone who has,why do they keep the plastic part of your license, why is she not allowed to ring her boyfreind,if the insured person for that specific car turns up why do they still need to seize it,not weird there just questions id like answers to .

You can only drive the other car if the owner is insured for the car AND you have their permission. Also it will be on your insurance policy as some do not have ‘driving other cars with owners permission’ included in the cover.

In case you are covered by some other (i.e. your own) insurance policy.

On ‘Police Camera Action’ they let a dad take his car away rather than seize it. His son had taken it without consent and was driving without insurance.

Got to read the small print; most but not all policy’s give this cover. There will usually be some restrictions included.

so some dont have theCAN DRIVE ANY CAR PART,i was always under the impression if you were fully comp you could drive any car with cover reduced to t.p.f.a.t,is that NEW, all my policys have had it ,my policy cleary states it,daughters does, brothers does, sister in laws does, but cant see it on girlfreinds, assumed all fully comp policys were the same.
oh dear things are looking a bit grim now,i insured her car for here[saved a few pence] and told her she was fine tio use mine ,are there any flower shops open on a sunday evening

HTH
to be honest theres not much print at all, just one sheet of paper,my documents have booklets, paper work etc, this hasnt,i think saving a few pence is going to cost me a fair few pounds

Usually the saving of a few pennies on car insurance comes at the expense of things such as being able to drive another vehicle not owned or hired by you on a third party basis. My fully comp policy doesn’t come with that option as standard.

Best get to one of the online flower sellers and order the “I’m sorry for the 6 points and £200 fine” bouquet. Don’t spend too much though as you might need to save some to pay your fine for permitting the use of your vehicle without insurance, not to mention the 6 - 8 points you are looking at. Not a good start to the year.
ady1:
when there interviewing you in back of car are you allowed to make a phone call
If the police have pulled you over for no insurance and you claim to have insurance they’ll phone the insurance you claim to be with to double check.
if your insured for your own car fully comprehensive are you not allowed to drive any other car with the owners permission.
Only if it states that on the insurance policy - lots of people think if their fully comp that they can drive other cars with permission only to find that their own insurance doesnt allow it.
My own insurance with More Than does

Yes it can still be seized because when the car was stopped the owner was not driving.
My brother was stopped by the police driving my mums car which turns wasnt insured any more and they asked him if he had his own insurance on his car and he said yes, fully comp and they checked whether his policy included the driving other car bit but sadly it didnt and they took the car and gave him 6 points and the fine.
He would have been fine if he did have the allowed to drive other cars he would have been told to insure the car was insured and allowed to continue on his way

To be fair, I’ve never had a car insurance policy that didn’t have it, however, it was someone in a similar situation to yours that first made me realise that being insured to drive other cars isn’t a default setting.
the link above will tell you if a car has insurance.
if you are driving a car thats not yours on your insurance, the car must have insurance by its own owner or yours wont cover it.
never give the police your licence at the side of the road you dont need to.
it can take up to 7 days to get your insurance on the database, use the link above to check your car out.its the same one the cops use.
you dont have to sit in the back of any police car unless you are under arrest.
you only have to give your name dob and address to the police nothing more.if your on foot minding your own business you dont have to tell them anything or talk to them for that matter.
they only want you in the back of the car so they can put that big interior light on and check your eyes out and body langauge, plus you wont fight as easy once your in or try to run away.
if he has arrested you and cautioned you you wont be making a phone call.do it before.
being polite and not getting in the back of the car is not an arrestable offence.
be polite be firm and No your rights.
ANYTHING YOU SAY WILL BE TAKEN DOWN AND USED AGAINST YOU.ALWAYS KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND BE POLITE.

you live and learn, cheapest is not always best ,points,i seem safe at the moment, its the girlfreind who been hit with the 6 penalty points, but i understand from the little shes spoke[shouted] ill be paying the £200 pound fine and any extra the points may raise her premiums for the next few years
ive tried to explain i was trying to save her some money and it was a genuine mistake but it seems to be falling on deaf ears

my insurance policy with admiral says it ,but the girlfreinds one with 1st central says after reading
a/--------------
b/any motor vehicle supplied to the policy holder under the companys approved repairer scheme while the vehicle described above is being repaired as a direct result of damage covered by this policy

the car she was driving was mine, its insured fully comp by me,i assumed as she has fully comp insurance on hers she was fine to drive it with my permission.
they didnt take her license of her there and then as she wasnt carrying it,i told her she didnt need to,she had to hand it over at cop station,i thought they only took paper part to put points on.
i would do as you say,but girlfreind has never been in any kind of trouble with cops, shed only popped down town to pick up my girl, cop car, lights siren[she carried on as she assumed it was for someone else] ,sat in back of cop car, breath test etc, frightened her half to death[thought she was going in cells],dont think shed have stood up for herself, which is why she was asking to phone me to get me to bring her policy up and tell them how it was o.k for her to drive my car

You are likely to be contacted by the police at some point with a view to prosecuting you for allowing your vehicle to be used without insurance and that is a fine and 6-8 points for you.
I have a letter here for the last tenant of my flat which I accidentally opened when I got in Friday night, shook me up at first until I realised it wasn’t for me. I am returning it to sender tomorrow as it is from Bedfordshire Police following up a motoring offence and asking her to fill in various forms and for her car insurance policy as it appears she allowed a bloke to drive the vehicle without insurance. The letter also warns she faces prosecution if her policy does not allow other drivers and details the penalties she faces.
I’m guessing this ties in with the two letters I have returned to Coventry Court in the last 4 - 6 weeks which were addressed to the bloke mentioned in the letter from Beds Police.

any idea what the best line of defence is ,genuine mistake any one could make ,or as the girlfreind is already in the zb,would i be best to just say she took it without my consent,i have to have a car ,she could use buses, taxis or scrounge a lift if she lost her license, next time she needs insurance she can sort her own out, this is turning into a nightmare,

I supposes accusing her of stealing your car may be a defence for you, while adding further to her offences and landing her with a criminal record or you with a charge of perverting the course of justice if she denies it and proves she didn’t, but I’m guessing that is going to need one [zb] off big bouquet of flowers and even then may not contribute to the longevity of your relationship. It may be to late for that anyway because if she had stolen it wouldn’t you have mentioned it to the coppers at the time?
