I’ve decided to try a small slow cooker as I can make meals at weekends, freeze them and chuck them in the slow cooker during the day. Argos do the really cheap and the 1.5 litre ones are only 120 watts so should be fine.
Let us know how you get on pal

Do any of you lads use the 700 watt forman grills?
Im looking for an inverter capable of powering mine,As you can knock up some pretty healthy dishes in minutes on them …
Can’t you…
Just hold the steak/bacon/burger with a fork and just tip all the fat away?
put a celeb name to anything and it sells

Uh■■?
I suspect George’s grill won’t be suitable for in cab use
Not really, the amount of fat that comes off stuff would make it unsuitable for cab use.
A slow cooker plugged into the cig lighter all day?
I aint an electrics expert by any means, but I aint sure I would trust that, or feel comfortable with one.
I may be over cautious but I would never leave anything bigger than a phone charger plugged into one of those things for any length of time.
I have had numerous kettle plugs in many different type trucks (mostly Scanias for some reason) melted before for instance.
I never leave them plugged in if I am out of the cab.
I have always found Hella plugs more reliable, but in my Merc they are not standard fitted.

0 The slow cooker is only 120w and will be plugged into the inverter via the hella. Found a way of keeping the lid secure using a plate holder.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
That’s neat.

The fuses that are connected to the cig lighter aren’t that tough. 10amp I think.
Not an electrical expert either but at 120w and a 3amp fuse in the plug it shouldn’t put any strain on an inverter plugged into the hella socket, or maybe I’m totally wrong.

The direct answer to that question is…
Double time today but, I suspect that’s not what you mean.
Instead of potty mouthing me, can’t you just explain the difference between tipping the fat away and what a George Forman grill does?

I see loads of people buying cheap meats then get all health conscious over the fat content… I find it makes more sense to spend around the same amount of money for less weight on better quality (read as less fat to start with) meats. I see those cheapo £1 a pop packs of Bacon in some shops but by time you factor in how much of that weight is fat/ moisture and is rendered off during cooking as well as spitting all over the place, it’s a false economy (imo)
As for cooking in general, I actually like it and don’t see it as a chore. I can also see the side of eating fast food occasionally but when you spend x amount of time sat on your ■■■■ driving a truck, you have to consider the health implications. When I get back to tramping, I’ll be getting one of those portable/ camping gas cooker jobs. Usually on offer at the likes of go outdoors.

Rob hella plugs have a greater contact area than the cigarette plug and are designed for more continuous use. Cigarette plugs/sockets tend to grip less and when they bounce around arc more, which is why the contacts look burned over a period of time.
