Cooking in French service areas

Hi everyone, just wondering if you guys can help, we’re off to France soon on holiday and am wondering if there is any restrictions to using a small gas cooker (outside of the car obviously)in the service areas/ lay bys, can’t find any info online on this. Thanks

No…Half the time there will be no-one else in them. Enjoy.

Never had any problems. I enjoy making people jealous whilst cooking bacon.

I wouldn’t think there would be a problem doing what you have described. They might have a problem if you dig up a patch of Tarmac to make a fire pit but other than that I think they won’t mind.

Cheers, that’s what I thought but with some of the rest areas being quite scenic just wondered if they were stricter than us lol, after all their rest areas are a lot nicer than ours .

Fit a side locker on your car and just cook from that

alot off them have picnic areas and benches, just dont leave a mess.

Some of the areas down the south of the country have signs up to say no open cooking but so long as its not on the dry grass you should be ok, a bit of common sense. :grimacing:
