They told me you need irish bank account.Who was that? I was under the impression that alot of firms over there have English drivers and help you with the tax, bank etc. not sure how you would get an Irish bank acc without an Irish address
it could ov changed but when i was workin for a southern Irish firm all i needed was a pps no for your Irish tax which was as easy as signing a form that the gaffa will have. And my boss used to do a chaps payment into my uk bank weekly, 
no probs i think u pay a v small charge for currency change if i remember rightly €=£
