Continent #4 Beckons

Well it’s now official… I’m a 100% certifiable nut case… Why…■■ Because I’m going to ride on planes, trains and automobiles for a combined total of 30+ hours in order to drive a Foden Alpha W+D down in Kiwi land for a while… Still, gotta be better than a boring, miserable winter in Notts. I suppose… Photos, diaries and possibly video footage to follow in the near future…

Have fun a diary and videos would be great

Good luck fella. I’m having a curious mooch at things down there myself

duck, do you do this on a working holiday visa ? and do you have the visa first or the job first ?

Good question… Got a WHV visa before I applied for the job. Lots of other companies with flash gear on the North Island were interested but this firm seems to tick all the boxes. The pay is good enough to qualify for residency too but I’m not thinking about that right now. I would say it’s better to get a job first… Hall’s transport is a very large company and their driver recruiter told me that they would give a written job offer to succesful candidates to take to the immigration service.

Best of luck to you, hope you have a great time, just don’t let them know they have the best rugby team ever.
P.S.WATCH OUT FOR THE TICKS

Thanks… Talking of rugby… What happened to those prats from Regina rugby club this year…? Not much rider pride in Sask. this year EHHHH?? Bet Swaggerville is lovin’ it…

Blimey, you’re giving Alan Wicker a run for his money

Enjoy and keep us posted

Thanks for the support… After 2 train journeys, a little plane ride and a bus trip I’m now in downtown Kuala Lumpur… Had planned to go back to Borneo to see the fairground lads again as they’re on the move this week and it might have been nice to have a sneaky drive of my old Foden 4000 series and get some photos/footage for Trucknet. Unfortunately the ticket prices are ridiculous and it would have also meant having about an extra 5 hours on a plane for the round trip. Will be in NZ early next week so it shouldn’t be too long before my first Kiwi diary!!

You are livin’ the life -hold on to it as long as you can!

Merry Xmas to all you ex-pats, it’s nearly Boxing Day down here in the land of the long white cloud. I’ve had a bit of a rough start to life in NZ. After a couple of days on the job I ended up in hospital with abdominal pains and was ready for throwing the towel in. Thankfully I’m feeling a lot better now and have just landed a new job at Wetherall Transport’s Christchurch depot doing fridge and curtainsider work. Will be starting off in a Hino box van around town for a while untill I get the feel of the job and then I’m going tramping in a cabover Kenworth! Will probably be some inter-island work so it should make for a good diary or two… One thing I’ve noticed here is how friendly and open all the haulage firms are. Took a walk around an ind. est. and got 2/3 job offers after they saw my C.V. Even had a company put me in a hotel for a night with full board whilst I thought about the job!! That’s NEVER happened before!! Anyway, I’m going to post some pictures and stuff over on the U.K. forum as a lot of the time people don’t bother to look here… Hope you like them…

Sounds interesting, will you be doing a blog, or just putting stuff on forum.
Hope the pains were nothing serious.
