Containers training

hello guys.

Can you recommend any company which can provide drivers training to carry sea container please?

Thank you.

Is this for real

Is this for real

From his signature I’m guessing he is a owner driver,so he is probably seeking some training on containers so he can add that string to his bow…so yes I presume it is real, maybe he feels it better to apply for work with knowledge of the job and how to do it especially as a sub contractor so he can jump straight in and get on with earning the ££££s

East trans are a pretty big container firm in Stallinborough, maybe they’ve had a few accidents in the box division and want some outside training to take over

Well ever dock is different there’s not really that much to know

spot on. Never done container myself. But sometimes have offers to do it. So need some training.

Judging by the antics I see from box jockeys most days I’d say the ability to sit four foot from the vehicle in fronts back end at 56mph is the only lesson needed.

I can offer my services, I,ll show up in a flash car , new hi viz coat and hard hat, clipboard and lanyard with library card in it round my neck, obviously having seen me the men that ‘need’ training will take me seriously , I,ll waffle on for 3 hours ,then tell them I,ll get them away early if they fill in my feedback sheet with good reviews, (always do it on a Saturday to ensure nobody asks questions and slows the ‘training’ down . I,ll laminate a bit of cardboard so they have proof of attendance and its only £95 per pupil , oh my word what is this industry coming to, but guarantee some desk jockey will see this and think wow what a super idea ARRRRGGGHH

Isnt it box on lock twistlocks drive to drop open back doors, read a book/watch a ■■■■■ close back doors drive to dock unlock twistlocks stand clear then drive off, or am i over complicating things ?

Sliders are slightly more complicated, but its still a few buttons and a bit of noggin use

Watch - Ask - Listen, seems to work for me on any new venture.

Surprisingly on the boxes, most jockey`s are very helpful :sunglasses:

got a nice dennison splitter trailer from sale

Recently sandblasted ?

I had only one day of training and the trainer never had enough time to show me fully about the slider. I’m still a bit afraid to use it. And I’m due starting on Friday.

you had a day of training but didn’t get to opening /closing a slider, what DID you do that day? don’t panic use red button to lock trl brakes, unlock pins ( yellow on some trl,s but you will see pins move inwards) then shunt back or forth, easy as pal , as with anything , if unsure ask , just don’t ask a forklift driver , hope you don’t think I’m taking the pXXX with this bit of advice but don’t move a loaded 20 with trl closed even if it just round corner good luck

Please excuse my ignorance, but why not? I thought the idea of sliders was to shorten the trailer for smaller containers?

These would take a bit of getting used to. I believe that these are the type that you can split and drag 2 x 20ft or close couple and pull a single 40ft. Extending, retracting, lifting axles etc. Drop the rear 3 axled trailer that I believe can then also be operated as a caravan type drawbar trailer and you are left pulling a 20ft, 2 axled trailer. Back that back onto the drawbar, and then you can have a 40ft trailer!! Bloody clever, but without some form of training I wouldn’t have a clue!!
BTW…I have never ever done containers.

Because you have no weight on the drive axle, and if get out of what ever premises you are at, which is doubtful, you’ll for sure jacknife on the first bend roundabout you get to.

You slide it shut, to put the doors at the back for tipping/loading, slide it out to travel.
