Lets say you have to use several shunters to cross a public road,to ferry empty/loaded trailers to the yard and back so you must use a tacho.
If all the tractor units are digi and analogue, and you are jumping in out of one every 5 or 10 minutes, how does it work with the tacho,if just workin in the yard, then not too bothered with the tacho, but for the road, and maybe have an accident with no tacho in,then its trouble.
On the paper tacho,do you leave it in,or take it out for the next unit you are in,for digi,it will ask what you did last, then you may have to get back in another unit with digi?
The digi takes ages to register, and there is no time to hang around for it to work out what it is doing, would you risk not using any tacho,to cross the public road or not??

A paper chart can do upto 4 vehicles, when you take it out of 1 and put it in the next, you fill in the back, after 4 vehicles you have to use another chart.
You don’t have to add any info to the digi, as it’s already recorded on the paper chart.
I’d double check if it’s even required for that job though, I know on recovery we didn’t use tacho’s, we used log books, I’d expect shunting to be the same tbh.
Is this another Toby wind up?
Genuine question, thanks for the input, happy holidays.
