Pete, I think you’ll find that’s not a Dennis but a Maudslay, looks like a Mogul MK1 with a trailing third axle conversion. Got the wartime grille but big headlights so probably early post-war.

Hi Bernard,
The pic has no details on but I have blown it up and looked at the badge on the rad but could not make up my mind! Looking at front hubs and rear driving axle made me think it was a Dennis, no one to ask now as they have all passed away
Here is a picture of a Chevvy that Barry Grainger restored, I can remember him making some new spokes for the wheels, Thank You for the info Bernard.

Maudslay! Just pre- WW2, they all had exotic model names, I think that 6-legger is a Maharajah.

Thanks for the Info “albion1938”, Regards Larry.
Back in the early '80s I delivered a few loads of axles to Dennis in Guildford from Kirkstall Forge in Leeds. If I remember correctly there were front and rear axles on the loads.

My Dad used to take scrap in to kirkstall from smethwick .
I wonder if they still produce axles their,? I used to load them for delivery to Coles Cranes at Sunderland in the 60/70s, Of course they are closed down, Regards Larry.

If you’re referring to Kirkstall Forge (GKN) the whole site wasn’t flattened a few years back. It’s currently being redeveloped as housing and offices, it even has it own station, “Kirkstall Forge” on the Leeds-Skipton line.
