I’ve spoken to a livestock hauler in Alberta last week not a very big company 7 trucks there Considering applying for LMO’s ’ can anyone shed some light on conditions does Employer have to by law provide a flight and training once the driver applying has received LMO ’ fella I spoke to on the phone sounded a bit shocked… about paying for a flight out and training’ I wasn’t sure if supplying somewhere to stay also was included this is a small company not a large carrier …
Flights yes, training no and they have to provide affordable housing.
Unless the WP says different,
Return flights, yes.
Training, no.
Accommodation, no.
When I came here with H&R, they paid Flights, WP, Hotel, Food 2 x $15 meals a day, Drug & ■■■■ test, Medical, Taxis.
They paid the training & test then recovered it out of our wages over an agreed amount of paycheques.

Transportation Costs
When hiring a foreign worker under the Stream for Lower-skilled Occupations, you must always pay the round trip transportation costs for the foreign worker to travel to the location of work in Canada and return to his/her country of permanent residence. These costs cannot be passed on to the foreign worker (i.e., the worker pays for transportation costs and is reimbursed at a later date). Under no circumstances are transportation costs recoverable from the foreign worker.
Housing
When applying to hire a foreign worker in NOC C and D occupations, you will be expected to show that you are providing affordable housing or show (e.g. through newspaper clippings) that affordable housing is available where the foreign worker is expected to work.

That paragraph on housing makes you ■■■■, not much difference between providing affordable housing or show (e.g, through newspaper clippings) that affordable housing is available.
Apart from the flights rule, most companies disregard the rest of that bumph written in the regulations and as a TFW, you don’t have many rights. Upset the apple-cart, they can soon get rid.
On the other hand some companies will go beyond what they have to do (e.g. pay for your training) and you only have to pay it back if you leave within a certain amount of time.
Some companies have rooms or housing available for drivers while they are training.
But don’t take what’s written in these regulations as gospel.
Also, if you do pay for your training you can claim a large % of it back on your taxes, I paid about $1900 and got back almost $1500.
Well said Nelig I would be more concerned about upsetting the Apple cart ’ and being shown where the door was like you said 'if you can claim back a lot if your training expenses that’s a good insentive …
If the temporary foreign worker gains permanent residency, there is no return flight to the worker’s original country needed, only the inbound flight is needed. You would think it would be beneficial for employers to assist TFW to gain PR.
