Itā€™s not just me then robroy. It drives me up the wall, people have short memories. Lots of UK international hauliers broke every law in the book, some were downright criminals, not just going over their hours or running on red, but using stolen credit cards, counterfeit money, on the ā– ā– ā– ā–  morning, noon and night, getting into punch ups and harassing the local talent and then there were those that got captured with contraband.

Yet to listen to some of the moaning about the EEs, you would think that everybody drove from church to church on every trip and offered bone marrow donations at every hospital they passed.

From what Iā€™ve seen, these EEs are a bunch of ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

Iā€™ve said many times on here that many of the ones who do all the shouting about this stuff have never been anywhere (or dared to go) south of Dover.
Their ā€˜trucking careersā€™ have consisted of monotonous daily timed deliveries to Tescos and Travis Perkins, with their sat navs (that they can not find their own arse holes without using) all done with driving in their pristine hi viz, and then home to bed.
Then they criticise guys who have driven through Gawd knows how many countries, and double manned, to find a back st. in Londonā€¦ for a pittance compared to what they are getting for their fully nursemaided (if thatā€™s even a word) day runs.
I donā€™t give a [zb] if I upset anybody with this, it is fact and needs said to clear the air.
Nobody is willing to speak up for anything, foreign drivers/trucks, long hours, being pushed, crap pay, unfair t.s and c.s, and a the rest of the stuff that has gradually eradicated the quality of this job since I started it many years ago, they just [zb] moan about it and have zero [zb] intention of making the slightest [zb] effort to join together and deal with it.
That is the reason that I just look after numero uno, and succeed in having a much better life in the job than many of my counterparts, if I come across as conceited on that, tough crap, do the same yourselves if it bothers you.

Having a bad morning here, off to kick the cat if I had one.
Then a few pints with mates later on maybe to unwind, with the promise of not mentioning anything transport related.

Oh the irony of it all, the gainsayer and those he paradoxically gainsays. Is it any wonder nothing will change when drivers follow the example of Robroy. Well done m8, I make that a direct hit with both barrels into the one foot. Now go and limp down the pub to drown your sorrows, of which you and others of your ilk are the only architects.

I admit that I do indeed look after No 1, but at least I run my own business against all competitors, standing on your own two feet isnā€™t how I would describe those in the employ of others, youā€™ve just as much a nurse maid [in the shape of an employer] as all others who seek the security of a guaranteed weekly wage, whether they deliver to Morrisonā€™s in England or Gibraltar.

Well, ā€¦Congratulations for running ā€˜your own businessā€™ am I meant to be impressed. ā€¦go on then Iā€™ll say I am to, just to make you happy.
As for your opinion on me, yeh you are fully entitled to it.
But two words describe itā€¦Totally irrelevant.

You are possibly one the greatest pointers as to why UK truck drivers are so easily treated with contempt, always expecting others to do that which you havenā€™t the balls or brains to do yourself, you are just one of those masses you look down upon, and brainlessly deride. I little wonder why you ended up in life as a council house tenant, without a nurse maid to employ you and The State to house you what exactly are you?.

As it is I agree with most of your political views stated, I was just speaking against drivers blaming other drivers for all the crap that goes on in this job, instead of at least trying to improve things themselves.
Yeh Iā€™ve been on ferries including the Woolwich one, but the best by far is the Windermere one in the Lake District, you get a far better class of person on there I find.

There always seemed to be time for a quick coffee and a ā€œballetje metā€ when fueling upā€¦

For over 20 years ive been in business, theres been highs and lows but every year theres been a profit . This year im buying my very first new truck and as ive always done with my old used ones will be paying for it outright and this is even taking into account competition with EE companies who we do business with as well.
As RobRoy says and ive also previously mentioned, anyone not liking EE drivers making a living in the UK do something about it! Will it happen? Of course it wont, the whingers and whiners would rather spout off on a forum instead of getting off their arse and doing something proactive :unamused:
Andā€¦its nearly always those that havent been further south than Travis Perkins Dover who call London to Birmingham long distanceā€¦ :grimacing:

Franglais, as you say, we were among the few that used a blue book as it was intended, but we werenā€™t alone.

Yes the lorries in Zeebrugge were tipping and loading to/from the UK, but I donā€™t think the Belgian traction boys were too happy about it.

I can remember retail parks starting to ban overnight parking in the 90s, long before the EE invasion, the reason was because of the mess the drivers were leaving behind, you say itā€™s worse now, that may be the case, but it was still an issue before they came, who knows, they could have adopted a when in Rome attitude.

There is an awful lot going on here. I started on Euro work in the back end of the 80s. I still do a bit. The cowboy UK outfits running then were largely matched by the cowboy Dutch outfits and most other countries. The world was a different place, and although Ill prop up a bar with others and fondly reminisce I wouldnt want to return. The EE drivers we have now are nothing like as professional as those from that era. Most EEs from then were perfectly competent drivers. They were well paid by the standards of their own country and got on with the job properly. From talking to one of the current crop it seems they are not so well treated today. From what he was saying (a Romanian driver for a Spanish firm) the transport companies now running are only offering a little more than a domestic wage for drivers to go away. They really are cutting down on everything they can. And the standard is dropping. They are no longer the pros doing a good job we remember, but steering wheel attendants. IMHO the rest areas are dirtier now than before. There are as many or maybe more clean up crews out there but theyre losing the battle. I dont maintain all EE citizens are dirty or anything, but with less western trucks and more EE what are we to think? I dont want to be prejudiced, but I wont ignore the evidence of my own eyes in the name of P.C. The restaurants we used are closing. More trucks on the road, more drivers, but less restaurants. They cant afford to eat out as we used to. Cant blame them for wanting to send money home rather than go on the booze can we? Heres a few figures if youre interested. Its from WHO on road deaths, but may be a hint about driving standards?
https:/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate/
Extracting a few bits, Road Fatalities Per Hundred Thousand Vehicles.
UK 3.6
France 7.6
Germany 6.8
Poland 15.8
Hungary 20.7
Romania 31.4
Not proof positive, but a bit of a hint I`d say?

Cheers for that support EagerB, but Iā€™ve no intention of trying to justify myself to this individual, he wonā€™t even see me in his league, what with him being such a high flying businessman, ā€¦and me being a failed owner driver who now lives in a council house , not on an estate btw but a small row on rural fields with a lovely countryside view, (which will no doubt differ from Mr Bigā€™s perception of a ā– ā– ā– ā–  hole with a fridge and a scrap Mondeo in the front garden  )

Loving the housewifenet theme here btw.

Itā€™s nothing to do with running a business or not. For the record I had my own business for a number of years (not truck related), and only stopped doing it because of an unfortunate family break up.

I did not think I was better than anyone else then, just as I did not when I was homeless for a short period in my life. I was brought up in a really nice area bordering a golf course, and then lived in a mouldy flat above a shop in Northwich as a teenager before then graduating to a council flat in a very rough area of Warrington.

After that I worked every hour I could in some of the worst jobs possible so that I could get away from all the drug abuse and crime on this estate. I managed to save enough money up to get myself started in a small business, and from there got out of the estate and grew my business to such an extent that I quickly had money in my pocket and managed to buy a brand new 4 bed house in Warrington.

The thing is though Lawn Cack, I have never looked down my nose at ANYONE in life, but you do.

You come across as a sad and conceited individual, full of arrogance and self importance. Let you into a secret fellaā€¦you crap out of a hole like I do. You drive a truck like I do. And you will either end up buried or burnt like I will be.
