Coaches

Could someone please tell me what the metal rods are that come out of the centre of the wheels on some coaches and seem to go back into the bodywork above the wheel arch, just curious…

Had one today pulled out on me i lit up up and a few blasts on the train horns when I got pass him he gave me the five finger shuffle :unamused: reminds me I’ll use your parking space in the services when the truck full see how you like it :smiling_imp: sorry mate got my hour break hi

They are probably a central tyre inflation system. Rare to see them on coaches in the uk though. A few timber trucks that get really off road have them.

Are they not tyre inflators? I’ve seen logging trucks with similar and they can adjust the tyre pressures to suit terrain.
Not sure what use they are in a coach unless it does a lot of ski resorts with ice/snow
