Well I changed my car in March this year, Only because I got a very good deal at Stratstone, But I had to have an automatic because Jaguars dont do manuel g/bs anymore The X Type I had was a 6 speed manuel which was great, me being an retired haulage contractor , used to driving motors with Eaton Two Speed Diffs, Foden 12 Speeds Eaton Twin Splitters, Fuller Road Rangers, I thought bloody hell an Automatic 8 speed gearbox , So I have got to admit I like it It didnt take much time time to get the hang of it, So there you go Eh ■■? Im getting old as the rest of us are so I will just have to accept progress as it is to-day, Regards Larry.

A mate of mine has got a new Range Rover with the eight speed automatic gearbox.Probably the same gearbox as in your Jaguar Larry, seeing as they are owned by the same company.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
I was a bit wary about going automatic until the missus bought herself a
Toyota with the auto box but as we was running two cars at that time it
didn’t matter to me but since she’s retired we only need the one motor
and mine was the oldest so it was decided to keep her much newer motor
and I quickly got used to the auto and now wouldn’t I go manual again.
thanks harry, long retired.
My last 3 cars have been auto. I would not want a manual gear box now. The car I have now is E280 merc and that has a 7 speed box.
Can’t talk about cars, because I don’t own one, but Harry not liking manual, I can, because he keeps calling me nosser, I think he cannot spell, he gets the first two letters right, then its followed by rman, Harry you told me that you have not done any real manual work since you was on the " Trawlers" or was it the " Tramper’s".
To get back on thread some of the best nights I have had have been in Hull. The Earl-de-Gray, Rayners and mixing it with the ■■■■■ in the Darycoats and the Half Way.
Cliff
Its that time of the week again.Everyone is watching the epic " Trucks & Trailers ".
Personally I don’t think the modern trucker on nights out ever leaves his cab and find entainment, but I must reply to Cliff, I had many good nights out at hull in clubs pubs and dance halls.

hiya,
Ah’ Hull the Sally Army was one of the better digs in that place,
but it was a place I never needed to stay overnight very often,
just that bit near home usually tip and return jobs, or get near
enough to manufacture a dodgy night out, but on the odd nights
I did have to stay always found it a lively place.

Yes Larry I knew David, he oringinated from Coventry, before going to Australia, in the 70’s he came to england and visited I think it was his sister, they had a party that I had been invited to, I was chatting to him a while, he said how good it was to get away from show business people and see how normal people cope and behave, it makes me appreciate my position, I made him laugh when I tried singing " I remember You" & gave him bit of my yoogling, my singing didn’t impress him, but he loved my jokes, nice fellow, but he never gave me any free tickets to his show!

Yes realised that Larry. Most of the so called famous entertainers come from a working class background.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Dave I’m from the poor working classes but my chances of being classed as an
entertainer are zero, I can’t sing have never ever danced can’t remember jokes
so to be in the position to relay them to what could possibly be an appreciative
audience, and my wife reckons I’m as funny as toothache, If I had one I wouldn’t
be giving up the day job anytime soon.
thanks harry, long retired.
