CLOCKS GO FORWARD TONIGHT and don’t forget to do the TACHO one - like I did last time they changed and put a notice on here - ME NUMPTY
good extra drink and a kickin in the chat room tonight not
Out of curiosity, if you’re having 9hours off, but the clocks go foward do you still have to take 9 actual hours off or can you get away with 8?

I would say that because you have to shift the tacho clock an hour forward, then this would surely count as a 9 hour break - but can’t say for sure. Well done for raising this point!

You would have to take 9 actual hours as 8 hours isn’t a rest period. If you started a rest period at 09:00 tonight then you could not start until 07:00 tomorrow morning which would be 9 hours, although it looks like 10.
Another point to remember is when making manual entries via the digital tacho unit the times you will be entering will be 1 hour behind local time for the next 7 months due to the digital tacho working on UTC.
For example if you roll into work at 06:00 on Monday and don’t get to put your card into the vehicle until 06:30, thereby requiring a manual entry to account for your activities between 06:00 and 06:30, you will have to enter the details as being between 05:00 and 05:30.

CLOCKS GO FORWARD TONIGHT and don’t forget to do the TACHO one -:
Shouldn’t have to- if you have a cassette-type analogue tacho it will automatically adjust itself to BST and back to GMT in autumn.
Unless of course you have for some strange and totally unnecessary reason placed a blank card in the second-driver position- in which case it won’t.
Dont forget the six hour rule,
Say you start at 21.00hrs & take the work time to the max it would normal to take half hour before 03.00, but tacho is hour behind so you would have to have half hour break by 02.00hrs.

Only 15 mins by 0200 due to the wording on the rules - I got caught by coffeeholic on that one already

If you started at 21:00 GMT and did not require a tacho break before a WTD break you would need a break of at least 15 minutes by latest 03:00 GMT, which would be 04:00 BST. If you took it at 02:00 GMT you would have only worked 5 hours and if it was taken at 02:00 BST that would be just 4 hours into the shift.
You never change the time on the tacho during a shift, it would be changed at the and of the shift. This would either be automatically when the disc is removed in the case of some analogue tacho units or manually by the driver for other analogue units. Digi units don’t change time so the clock change doesn’t affect them and the only thing the driver could do is change the display to show local time instead of UTC. During the shift you would just take any breaks required based on tacho time and not the altered local time.

No, by 03:00 GMT or 04:00 BST. Taking it at 02:00 BST would only be 4 hours into the shift. You could take it then if you wanted but there would no requirement to do so.

Where’s me gun?
Oh, and another thing. Remember to go into your profile on TruckNet and alter the time zone otherwise all the posts will show up with incorrect posting times. I know they do anyway but it will be worse than normal if you don’t change the time zone.

I remembered to do that to all the sites I use this morning and at least I got that bit right - I think I did GMT+1

If the time on Planet ROG is the same as the UK then GMT+1 would be correct.
Stupid question time, and i should really know the answer to it…
Does this now mean Britain is on the same time zone as Europe until October??
A question on the digi tach?
Doesn’t that have to stay at the same time - called something like UTC time?

Those Crazee Continentals also put the clocks forward last night
Hi dudes.
as always 2xQ going to thow out the rattle (drop a spanner in the works) etc.
As he recalls reading some were in the regs,
That Tachograph records are required to be maintain/recorded in “Universal Cordinated Time”
( UTC, also known as GMT, or Zulu to the military dudes )
I know from personal experience that Aircraft Aircrew & Aircraft flight record logs
are required to be recorded in UTC/GMT. but the crew may has the option to record the records in another time zone,
with the provision that they clearly state which timezone is being used in the logbook.
SO I wonder if this is the same for Tachograph records
( I.e are we required to write, "Time recorded in BST on the disk back ) ?
PS: Personally it doesnt bother me either way
Mr “spanner in the works” out

As I mentioned above it does. It isn’t possible to alter the time on a digi tacho by more than 1 minute a week anyway. The only thing you can do is change the display to show local time instead of UTC.
