As usual some good photos,(including one of mine). Could never understand why Colin needed to photo in black & white? He wanted for me to take a camera of his loaded with B&W, when I was out and about.Barry)
Now this thread is really taking off.How many of these firms, owner drivers and drivers are still around.?
Gloves, thank you for posting the photos of the J & I Haulage trucks. They are better pictures than some of the ones I have. I also love the old Myers and Fox’s photos, they bring back memories of my time as a mechanic at Myers and at Foxes where I kept the J & I Haulage trucks.
Regards Mickyp

Hiya and this one kept the plant going when the belt snapped
THE DENNIS BOWMAN REPAIR KIT.
Foxes still going although not out of Clitheroe. Hargreaves and Coates just has one Tanker. J&I Haulage no. J Parkinson yes but just one Scania on tanker work. Most of the owner drivers that worked out of Bankfield no! Lawson and Ellis no. Tommy Hickey still going but no wagons. T&J yes spotless fleet of Scania and Volvos. Myers no. Jacksons no. AJA Smiths that was no now moving to Blackburn.Sadly Bankfield maybe know more? Bottom tar plant has gone!no crushing plant! The end is nigh.
Looking like Bankfield could become a tip for LCC or someone else to make a fortune, big bucks in big holes.
Don’t know about making it into a tip? Big issues with water flooding at the moment but somebody must have plans because Larfarge Tarmac have asked for permission to go down another 31 mtrs? But the word is Hansons now own the quarry after Tarmac accidently quarryed there stone. Hansons are now making crusher run(MOT) and again the word is they are putting in a tar plant. Due to a up turn in demand?
Who knows? Time will tell
