Cleaning up old Alcoa's

Hi,

My Roadtrain has a set of 20 + year old Alcoa wheels on it, once it appears they were lovely and shiny but NO MORE!

Anyone got tips for restoring badly scratched and dull alcoas? I am after show quality!

In Swiss we used to the truck to the truck wash where they sprayed 'em with a powerful chemical & then washed all ali parts with a cold jet.

if they are badly scratched, you might not get them back to show quality.

but, some tips are, get the Alcoa Alclean chemical, this will get most of the crap off the wheels and leave them ready for polishing.

various metal polishes are available, different people will recommend different products to you, personally, i use Peek to get most of the polishing done, then do them again with White Diamond Metal Polish.

it is not a 10 minute job, you will have a lot of hard work in doing them.

alternatively, you could send them to Tyretracks of Eccleshall, Staffs., and let them do it for you, last i heard, they charged £50 per side per wheel, plus the dreaded

buy a set of dura brights thats the easyiest tip i can give ya

Wash with alishine, get some wet n dry with an electric sander, then use g3 and brillo pads, then autosol.
