Anyone able to point me towards day work specifically within Birmingham area ?
I have been outside the country for a few months and just after some class 1 work, I’ve held my licence for two years now

how keen are you on pushing pallet and showing photo ID to gate security personnel
Which side? Fairly large area Birmingham like…
Best bet us pallet network type stuff, will be local type stuff but normally they’ll want the truck back so by default you get back too
Supermarket also a good hit. Saunsburys at Hams Hall as an example. Think it’s Wincanton now but they’d do day work.
All the talk of driver shortages are horse ■■■■,you now need at least six months experience in the last twelve months,The RHA ■■■■■■ are facilitating that nonsense while begging for more drivers all the time. There is hardly any decent firms left, you are better off driving vans pal.
It’s a ■■■■ industry full of rubbish and greed.

I’ve gone van driving and am as happy as a pig in crap. Too much nonsense regarding legislation for HGV driving and as we have always suspected but now it’s official, when it comes to hiearachy of road users your truck driver is bottom of the list with the least priority and the most responsibility whilst many other road users do as they like.

Is that the new game in town.?.. 2 decades of hgv 1 experience useless if you’ve been out the game for 6 months or so ? Wouldn’t surprise me as i imagine insurance firms are driving this. If true ?

i think its an old game supposed to weed out those that pass their test then don’t go near a lorry for 2 years then claim they have had their license for 2 years but as you rightly say screws over anyone that has had a legitimate break from driving for any number of valid reasons.
According to gov statistics out of all the driving schools that have submitted their results there are just over 68,000 new passes between 2022 and 2023
