Long time no see, good to be back here though [emoji39]
So, after 2.5 years of doing multidrop in rigids, 3 cancellations due to lockdowns, I finally had the chance to start my class 1 training and take the exam last month. I’ve passed it first time with 2 minors, both for being too cautious (doing 45 in a 50 zone and letting an artic tipper drive out from a T-junction before taking a tight turn left).
Have done some class 1 work for LLD pulling McDonald’s trailers down south to Heywood but still feeling uneasy when it comes to reversing. I’m still combining this work with class 2 multidrop. Although the multidrop work is one of the best job of this kind in my area, I find switching from driving artics to rigids and cage work more and more difficult. Been tempted to accept night tramping for Stobart and use it as an opportunity to master driving artics.
Does anyone know if there’s any difference in the work type you do between different ES depots? I’m in Scotland, so the choice is Grangemouth, Motherwell, Bellshill and Livingston.
Cheers

Why would you get a minor for letting the road be clear for your left turn and letting a tipper driver out?
45 in a 50, 50 being the maximum. The examiner wanted you dead on 50 then?
Letting the tipper out sounds like a slight error of judgement where the poster thought he would need the space occupied by the tipper. Not a huge problem but could annoy folks behind - possibly.
45 in a 50. If it was safe and possible to do 50, then that is what is wanted. If it was a short term lapse it wouldn’t be marked.
Hope this helps, Pete
