Think I’d be at the very bottom given i drive a rigid stralis
I had a 6wheeler stralis as my first truck! Was a machine that thing, didnt like being knocked about to much though, sudden gust of wind and something would fall off… I think the lever for the auto gearbox was once the throttle lever in an aeroplane lol.
Mines a 6wheeler too and Yep that’s about right. It’s my first lorry too, this must mean I’m on the right road to a V8
And the bonnet up view was not uncommon, it needed a tow start every morning unless it was parked facing downhill, it had long gone past the stage where Easy Start had any effect. Loved every minute of it though

 I hate arriving at these threads late!!!
You’re never late when you drive a V8.
Oh…
I like that!!
While we are on the subject of class 1 and 2 arrogance, who is your mate Dai?
I was tipping 3 pallets of bricks when this peasant of a rigid driver blocked the forkie from getting at them, “only got one pallet mate” he says… Shame I can be just as awkward, I got the fork lift driver to put some pallets in front of him so he had to wait until I was done anyway, sad thing is he had about 20 ft behind him still and could have cleared my pallets with his cab in the first place.
Just to add, he did actually seem alright, no malice involved or anything.

You didn’t see that under the bonnet though! Very neat conversion from what I can see, nice job.

Driving from near Glasgow to Mallaig, on Monday 27th May in an 18 tonne rigid, (class 1 driver)
So far in my short driving career I have been told by a number of drivers who were driving a 7.5t tell me there only covering it and that they are class 1.
I don’t care if your a prick, at the end of the day, we all do the same job but in different size vehicles.
Must say. I find it hard having to wipe a class 1 drivers arse. I hate having to get on my knees for you lot when you walk past. I hate having to give my seat, and food up for you lot. I hate having to give my wife up also, which is taking it a bit to far. Whilst your lording it about in the cafes, I am nicking your fuel

Have they taught you how to tip the cab yet? Mine use to go through a litre of oil every week, only use to do at the very most 800kms a week lol! Was about 6years old and had only done about 170k… Theres loads of V8s at my work, but only those that can be trusted get one as its pretty easy to get them doing 5-6mpg.

Yeah they have, luckily it doesn’t use as much oil as your old one . I usually top it up once a month and that’s only for piece of mind and i do around 1600kms a week. Indeed, expensive piece of kit can’t let any idiot drive one!
I only drive a puddle jumper most of the time and occasionally help out at our local recovery operator. Quite a few BIG CLASS1 DRIVERS with their BIG RIGS can’t believe I only drive a rigid for a living when I turn up in this kit to tow away their pride & joy.
When we underlift a loaded artic we are usually grossing around 70 tons and can be 85- 90 feet long but we don’t like to brag about it as we are only a mini wheeler driver again the next day, not worthy of being flashed in or anything, just think though the day after it could be YOU in your 44 tonner who’s glad to see me on the hard shoulder.
I remember your shopping trolley 1970 commer as called by the jt newbolds wagon n drag driver when you held him up for 2 seconds as you had no mowmentam on a down hill m1 pity his balls weren’t as big as his gob when you offered to pull up and square it with him ,another brave class 1 driver whilst sat in the seat!
Nice bit of kit that is…just a tad big for puddle jumping, i remember some yrs back i did a spell on tippers and broke down fully wacked up on the M1 north bound, and a Magnum turned up with the Mack engine in it…it pulled the tipper like it was a dead fly, two tone blue there base is on the A1…cant remember there name…one of you truck guru’s will know.

Why do Class 1 drivers think they are so good. I freelance for companies (not agency) and drive anything from Class1 to beavertail transits. At the firm I am with at the moment its a Class 2. Artic arrives at the yard yesterday and asks what to do. I told him where to turn around and who to see. He then tells me his truck is actually easier to turn than mine and how you can reverse them blah blah. No [zb] Sherlock. I don’t bother to mention I’ve had a class1 for 30 years.
i have met the type you are on about, they have a class1 and think they are god,i have had my hgv1 for 24 yrs and i could not care less what i drive, a days pay is a days pay,i find it makes a change getting behind the wheel of a van,the guy sounds a bit of a knob
I’ll flash you in, regardless of whether I’m in a 7.5 or a 18.
If I don’t flash you in, it’s because it’s not really a safe distance as yet (I can’t judge the world from a view of your back doors)
If I’m passing you uphill, and there’s a 500 yard stretch downhill, you do not have the automatic right to make me stamp on my anchors (yes I can see your indicators, but that doesn’t mean you can come straight in, even if you hang it over a couple of feet to try and scare me.) Don’t punish me for Wisemans or Holland and Barrett’s limiters.
I see you all muttering that I’m just a [zb with an old car licence, as you wave to me with one or two fingers.
But my licence is just as first class as yours, CPC’d and ADR’d up as well.
And I am not imagining that, I surveyed it once as to how much I got flashed back in.

I don’t care what I drive so long as I get paid for it (with the exception of a Ford Cargo ). On my last job in the UK I drove a beautifull Scania rigid with an even more beautiful exhibition / hospitality trailer behind it, it was well over 65 feet long but permitted because it was exhibition work. I much prefered driving just the rigid to small indoor shows to anything driven in the past. My first driving job here was using a Ford F350 with a box body that could hold 8 pallets and I really enjoyed that, on some occasions I had to pull a 40 foot trailer behind it, but on it’s own I really loved it. Class1, 2, 3 or 4 who cares, they can be just as skillfull.
