My uncle runs 13 or so for city link with plans to buy another this weekend! he worked xmas eve and nothing was said! he found out on the news yesterdy
The also owe him money for last month and this month totalling 10 grand, not sure he’ll see much of that
If anyone is going to choose the time in which to go bust - best from their point of view if they do it just before having to pay out a shedload of back wages, etc…
Those working the past few days will of course have forgotten anything about Christmas bonus payments already, happy enough and hoping enough just to get their regular wages already earned for earlier in december worked.
These suits that buy companies for £1 on the understanding they are supposed to take on the debt - they are all crooks. They look for bits to flog off, find buyers, pocket the money, and when they have - pull the plug on the rest. A similar thing happened to Comets I believe.
Strangely enough, should an individual be about to go bankrupt, and just before hand - hand over all cash in bank accounts, the flash car, and their house - to their wives… That’s considered to be FRAUD - although even there - you don’t see many people being “done” for it…

Being just a “van driver.” I have worked at every one of the parcel companies at some point. City Link were by far the worst and most disorganized of them all. FACT!
I did a day’s van work for them in south London before I got my class 2. They had me drive round London for hours after 5pm visiting closed business addresses just to prove I’d attempted the deliveries. What an utter waste of time (and fuel).

They have to do that in order to be paid. If they don’t at least attempt to deliver on the date the service the consigner pays for they have to do it for free. So whilst it may seem to be an utter waste of time and fuel to someone with half a brain, for the rest of us with fully functioning ones when you actually stop to think about it it clearly isn’t.
As a citylink customer for ten years with another business they informed us we had to spend a set amount a month or be charged the minimum. Obviously we told them to poke it. We then used interparcel who actually provided a cheaper service using citylink. Our local depot was franchise and citylink forced them out. I feel sorry for the staff but the management obviously couldn’t organise an obvious in another obvious
City Financier and prominent UKIP supporter Jon Moulton sacked 2,727 of his staff on Christmas Day after deciding to put City Link into administration.
Moulton didn’t even bother to tell his employees — most of them found out via the press that they will be receiving no more pay after the 31st of December.
But no-one should be surprised by Moulton’s Scrooge-like, heartless behaviour.
Moulton is a former Conservative Party donor, who decided to transfer his allegiance to UKIP after criticising Tory chancellor George Osborne for not cutting hard enough and for being too soft on austerity.
And you can expect much more of this kind of fat city cat behaviour across the country should UKIP ever manage to get its hands on the reins of power (God help us).

Since none of their MP’s represent Malaysian constituencies you should be safe for the time being. Ironic really that being a UKIP-hater you choose to live in one of the few countries in the world to retain capital punishment also one whose politics are largely influenced by ethnicity rather than true democracy.

Heard about this 2 weeks ago - surprised it was all kept so quiet,
Was even told the 24th would be their last day operating,
I guess they were trying to clear the Xmas parcels right up to the last minute.
I know of a competitor that put in for 40% of their work,

How come you didn’t mention this on Trucknet two weeks ago then?

If you had started a dedicated thread regarding the news rather than it been lost in the Yodel one you may have been on Sky News today.
Yeah, that is the problem - I was told in Confidence, so did not want to make a song a dance, just mentioned it to Fellow TNET users among the discussions on here

Probably not because without posting evidence to back the claim up the thread would have been deleted in the blink of an eye.
