Just thought id post a little update. I
ve had two visits to nottingham city hospital now, on the first thursday of every month.
Both times my “markers” (signs of cancer) have been at normal levels, which points to me being clear
Ive been left with a combination of tingling(like pins and needles) and occasionally numbness in my thigh The consultant tells me its caused by the scar tissue and bruising pushing down on a bunch of nerves in the top of my leg. It WILL get better  I
m going to see out my remaining club note and start back to work just after christmas
New Year New Start
Merry Christmas Everyone
It sounds like you’ll be celebrating a good Christmas and New Year.
All the best.
glad its all going well jb, enjoy your xmas, i’m keeping my fingers crossed that i can stay out this time and have xmas at home myself
good to hear JB hope all goes well enjoy xmas and new year with your family
Well im finally going back to work on monday   . I
ve been for my monthly check-up today and everything is ok.
The lying bleeders told me id only be off a fortnight---- 4 MONTHS AGO! :open_mouth: It seems i was a little premature about Stobarts too :unamused: ... They changed the goalposts at every opportunity. Firstly i was told full pay from day 1. This made itself apparent as false after my first payday.. when i didnt get any :open_mouth:  (apart from ssp). "oh yes you have to be off a month first" :unamused: Then i was told full pay for 6 months.... only they changed the sick pay scheme a month ago to 6 wks full pay.. 7 wks half pay... then only ssp! (can they do that while i
m being paid under the original scheme?)
Yes its left a slightly bitter taste in my mouth… its not as if i was bloody putting it on!
BUT my values on life and money have changed so i dont give a stuff now.
Here`s to a happy HEALTHY new year to you all.
Cheers. Jon
Glad to here you are a lot better
Good luck for the future
Good news Jon. Will you be venturing over the water again, if so I might see you on the train?
Yes Neil i`m still channel hopping. How long for i dont know . All this time at home has made me question the sanity of living for 2 or 3 weeks in a truck
good for you jb, glad to hear its gone so well
i’m back in on the 7th to restart my chemo, so i’ll think of you back at work when i report in at 9am.
they’ve promised not to try and kill me again this time
The lying bleeders told me i`d only be off a fortnight---- 4 MONTHS AGO!
you’re lucky, i’m now signed off until sept 2009, and according to the people in the know thats when i’ll be signed off for good, if not before.
the wagon’s been sold and i’m now retired 10 years early at 50, i still don’t know wether to laugh or cry though.
I can understand you crying steve but you would be far better laughing mate.
No more struggling with insane traffic levels. Being treated like cack at every turn.
You`ll get through it and look back with a wry grin steve.
Good luck with the treatment
Great news to hear from you Jon and wishing you well too Steve .
Oh and The Sweaty One wishes you well too Jon .
pleased to hear this JB, as you say it makes you think about the time you spend away from the ones who care about you
biggus,
retirement isn’t that bad. at 55 I was put out to grass after being told by hospital I had 5 years (plus they were getting computers in and I “was to old to train”
after 6 months started new job part time and the rest is history as they say
I eventualy fully retired at age 76 last August
and you CAN do it
i’m ok jb, i’m not going to be crying but it feels wierd being told you’re finished, i’ll get all my disabled stuff sorted out, then i suppose i’ll just have to prove them wrong.
cheers rob
don’t worry ken i’m not giving up, i’ll find something to do but it’ll be as and when i want to do it.

Hi JB, I’m glad to see that you’re on the mend.
I’ve the same pins and needles in the thigh that you describe. That’s also due to scar tissue, but mine presses on my sciatic nerve. The reason for me having the scar tissue is completely different to yours though.
Mine is to do with internal scar tissue resulting from the removal of my coccyx, but I’ve been told that mine probably won’t get better. They’ve also told me that, in my case, they’re very reluctant do do anything about, it due to it being a very high-risk op.
TBH, the Doctors’ advice has been spot-on up to now, and the consultant I see for pain relief is marvellous. Even he advised me to leave things as they are, since it’s my best option. I’m sticking with that, unless the pain becomes unbearable, but I’ve been there before, that’s why my coccyx was removed. Ah well, I’m back on the roundabout again and the pain is tolerable for now.
I hope yours eases sooner rather than later, and that day-to-day you’re not hurting too much.
I hope biggus is feeling better too.
Jon, I was on the bell to the Sock today and he wants to have a natter with you. He wants your number so he can bell you. After getting him to repeat what he’d just said so I could be certain I’d heard him right and check that he wasn’t ill I said I’d give you a holler to see if you’re well enough to endure a fresh instalment of his life on the M8 .
I said I could give you his number so that you can ring him and, not surprisingly, he thought that was a very good idea!
So up to you mate.
PM me his number please rob and i`ll give him a bell. Probably be monday though.
Cheers- Jon
I really didnt want to resurrect this thread. I
ve been having monthly blood tests for a year now and alls been well......... But last month my "tumour markers" had risen which set alarm bells ringing. I had an ultrasound and a ct scan yesterday and a meeting with the consultant today. The bombshell being my cancer has returned. Its not in my nadger this time its up in my abdomen in a lymph gland. He
s confident its highly curable, but i need a 9 week course of chemotherapy, which will start in two weeks.
Seems like i`m gonna be on here a lot more!
Hi JB
Sorry to hear your news hope all goes well with the chemo, keep positive and keep us informed, all the very best
George
Good luck mate.
