Well im sat here in my living room watching kerrang waiting for the district nurse to visit(yet another female checking my buster gonads out!). Philosophising about life n stuff.. Mrs h has gone down to the bank to speak to them about my ailment I must say although stobarts get a bad press sometimes theyve been brilliant with me… Full pay no questions asked until im ready to go back which is a huge weight off my mind. Ive got a full body scan next tuesday and a follow up appointment on thursday to discuss the results.
I dont know if this bit seems weird or not but it really helps me to get it off my chest and tell you lot even though i dont know you.
Is chemo via injections or tablets steve?
Thanks everyone for reading and commenting

good to see you’re home and on the up jb, i’m on injections mate
20 sessions at 2 a day for 10 days was the 1st lot
i’m home but going for checks every other day until the chemo stops and my marrow starts regenerating blood (approx 3 weeks) then it’ll be back in isolation for another 20 in 10 session to wipe it out again, i’ve got 4 lots in all.
i dont know anymore than that, ive asked them to keep me informed as we go along, i want just enough in my head to know whats happening to me when its happening
whatevers happening next month, can go in my head next month
hope all is well with you kev.

hey jon goodluck mate and im sure youll beat this and keep smiling.

Hi biggus,
when Ang told me about you I was a bit shocked to say the least and to both you and JB I can understand some, not all, of the things youv’e been suffering and some of the questions youv’e been asking yourselves.

as you may remember biggus I have a heart problem after my second attack in 1994 it stopped for 8.5 minutes was pronounced dead and Mary, bless her, signed the forms for them to take any organ they could use. however while they were giving me a final check I actualy heard a faint voice say
“No there’s something there”
I was revived somehow and with a lot of support from my family, especially Ang, i recovered

For the record I was later told they could only have used my eyes as all other organs apart from my heart had ceased functioning and were no use for transplant

DVLA only let me have my under 7.5 ton licence but have just retired (76 in Dec) from being a courier in a small van

to JB the Doc’s told me to have a glass of whiskey every night, which I do, JB as it happens as it helps blood circulation

All the very best to both of you and remember there ARE better days to come

Sorry to hear about your illness. if you want some inspiration have a read of “It’s not about the bike” by Lance Amstrong he suffered from the same condition and came back to win the Tour de France six times :sunglasses:

Good luck, John,

Well i had my ct scan on tuesday and ive been up to see the consultant today. apparently the tumour was a "terratoma" which he said was a little bit more awkward to get rid of than a "seminoma". Ive got a swollen lymph gland which could be due to the infection i`m getting over or it could be the “c” word spreading a little bit. :open_mouth: .
Got to have a further ct scan at notts city hospital in a few days now.
Fingers crossed eh?!

Yes Jon, fingers are crossed for you.

I only just came across this part of the forum.
I was rushed into hospital last week but only for a night (gastroenteritis) and i was a big baby. They collapsed a vein of mine with a canula so i fainted
Having read this thread mine was nothing compared to you lot and id just like to say i reallly wish you all the luck and best wishes from me and my family.

JB and Biggus, I have only just found this Forum and now this thread. Best Wishes to you both.
Strangely enough, JB, I was in Veurne the other week and there were 2 of yours in there. I have spent weeks looking for your number. I asked about you and they told me you was off sick and what was wrong. I kept quiet and decided they had had too much ale as I would have known about it. My apoligies but I never knew this Forum was here so had not seen you were, in fact, off.

Thanks bear.
I went to see the specialist at nottingham city hospital last week. He was “fairly” confident i had a “stage 1” tumour (had being the best bit-it aint there now!).
My gp has signed me off for another month (post op recovery :unamused: )… apparently its taking a lot longer than normal because i caught MRSA whilst i was in hospital :open_mouth:
Tests galore for the next 5 years :open_mouth: but if it keeps me alive i reckon i`ll manage eh?
Give dave morgan my regards when you speak to him please.
Rgds jon

will do, JB… will make a point of finding him

nice to hear yours has gone so well, keep it up

nice Christmas pressie for you and your family

how are you biggus?
