Slightly off tack but we now have to swallow a 45.00 charge per delivery to the EU from Jan21 and probably reduce prices in case if tariffs just to ensure our customers don’t move to German or other EU27 suppliers. Don’t get me started on the extra hassle of selling to northern ireland now and the import side. Ah well at least we have blue passports and our fish back.

Bad news on the blue passport amigo.

I saw a black one and asked the guy how he got the special black color.

He said all new passports are black because they were all black before joining EU. :open_mouth:

I said what about the Blue ones■■?..he said they never were blue and probably never will be!!!

Worse than that he said Burgandy was just the EU color option if you wanted use it but countries could choose any color they wanted and several other EU countries didn’t bother with the burgundy.

He said a lot of other stuff as well that I can’t recall but he certainly seemed to know what he was talking about.

You may not like it however it is a fact.

The guy had a Black passport which I was assuming to be some special issue or issued by an overseas embassy but the man said otherwise.

If yours is Blue and a recent issue perhaps Bojo has told them to get the finger out and pay for the proper colour ink rather than the cheap black stuff.

Consider your apparently True Blue issue a rarity though and well done you.

In case of any doubt about my facts I see the problem of Black Passports instead of Blue has been raised elsewhere already.
This is from March this year. bbc.co.uk/news/education-51737116

Likewise he said there was absolutely no requirement to ever change over to the the EU colour in the first place or it could have been switched back at any time which I’m afraid is also an absolute fact.

But Hey, all minor stuff in the overall scheme of things.

More EU trucks operate in UK than UK trucks in EU…
So lets say most of the loads will be droped/picked in/from ports…that means more loads within UK for UK companies and no undercutting rates…
Or Am i thick!

Rates same to anyone. Most UK rates about 1.50 per miles ready long long time.Big company happy, get profit. In Europe about 1 eiro per km.What is same to Uk rates. There need pay as well for motorway. But small company=ies with 2-3 truck died and it is not profitable in any country anymore.Same situation with small corner shopGood profitable can be if get 10-20 truck or more.

Plus in UK to many company died because owner was created company may be 30 years ago,get contract. Now they retired, try sold contract to someone and get big money.Half UK {company, building, land ) sold by British people to any people ,criminal from abroad.

I’ve got a new passport which is indeed black. I’ve also still got my old pre eu one which is also black. It’s always baffled me why everyone refers to them as blue. The pages in the old one are blue so I thought maybe it’s that but they aren’t in the new one.

All I know is my passport and my children’s and used to give us the ability to work, live and travel in 28 countries, now it’s just one. #winning [emoji21]

By the way I do also understand why many in this industry probably didn’t celebrate 27 countries having free access to our jobs, unfortunately that is capitalism at its best, reduce costs, increase profits. That’s why so many industries offshored ( dyson et all). Equally so many come here to work in care homes, fields and nhs doing jobs our lot wouldnt entertain.
Any way merry Christmas and happy new year fellow truckers, thanks for the wonderful banter and help and advice found here. Let’s hope 2021 Is a big improvement !

The remoan force is strong in this one!
Stop crying ya baby. When I was 18 before the days of free movement I went to West Germany to do a bit of building work as a labourer with my uncle. I remember getting a temporary work visa. It didnt cost a lot and was easy to get. You too will be able to work in Europe in a similar way.
I also went to France and did 3 weeks grape picking and I dont recall getting a visa just put a bag on my back and went.

I get a bit frustrated by people thinking there was NO working or living in Europe pre EU days.
Admittedly it was easier in the EU but it was also possible pre EU.
My uncle bought a house in Spain in 1986. Still has that house. Will still be able to visit the house.

I get that too. But as you say that’s capitalism.

What i dont get is the logic that it will somehow stop in January :open_mouth:

My friend thats exactly what I am talking about. 1.50 per mile is ■■■■ rate. Eastern European companies are able to operate for that therefore rate for most accesible work did not go up here for long time.

From what I have read recently when we leave Europe the UK will appear on a map in a little box, like the Shetlands. it seems we are being towed to a different location.

as per news, all going to continue as it is with cabotage, so bye bye better rates…
