Does anyone know whether or not it is seen as the drivers responsibility to change the time on the vehicle unit and if there is any written information confirming this?

As a driver you can only change 2 things concerning time - UTC by 1 minute each 24 hours either plus one minute or minus one minute and the local displayed time - all other major time changes have to be done by the tacho center
Its is to your advantage to have the time right - just in case of an accident or accusation of speeding - if you are stopped and the time is out by more than 5 minutes i am sure VOSA or plod would be asking why if you drive the wagon all the time you haven’t made sure its right

Steve
Actually, the driver can only change UTC time plus/minu 1 minute per week. So 4 minutes out takes a month. The driver can then change the ‘display’ time in 30 minute increments either way of UTC to whatever time he likes.
Yeah its changing UTC time by 1 hour im talking about!
Cheers

If the UTC time is out by 1 hour you should defect the vehicle, the digital tachograph is allowed to be up-to 20 minutes out more than that and the vehicle needs to go to a tachograph centre for correction as soon as possible.
I’m sure i changed the UTC on one of ours by 1 minute each day as it was 4 minutes out -
cheers
Steve
Hi - are you sure the UTC time is out by 1 hour ?
At this moment you have to add one hour to all printouts or driver displayed times to make it UK time

shep532 is correct, the UTC time can be changed by 1 minute every week.
As gm says the UTC time should be one hour behind UK local time at the moment, so when it’s 18:00 BST the tachograph UTC time will read 17:00.
This does sound a bit like a ‘not understanding UTC’ type problem.
Could always wait until winter time - might be right then

How is this done, as the vehicle I am currently driving is 2 minutes out, and it does my tree in?
Ken.
To change UTC time,
Must be done without a driver card in.
get into main menu, scroll down to vehicle entry, select ‘UTC correct’ press up/down buttons to change +/- 1 minute.
If the UTC time is out by 20 minutes or more then it must be taken to a calibration centre. iirc, a full calibration must be done, however they usually only change the time.
UTC time can only be changed by 1 minute, once per week.
If the main display has a black dot next to the time then the tacho is displaying local time, this should only be the case whilst we’re on British Summer Time, which is the same as UTC (or GMT) +1.
Sometimes when trucks are put into service whilst we’re on BST, the tacho UTC is set at BST not GMT/UTC, just something to watch out for.
Who cares?
It`s all relative…
