Changing Time On Digtal Tacho

Is there penalties if a driver gets stopped and he hasnt changed the time on his digital tacho from Summer to Winter time and vice versa?

No mate, I assume the time you’re talking about is the local time that shows on the tachograph display which you can change if you wish.

The driver activities are recorded in UTC time which you can only change by one minute per week.

The UTC time can be up-to 20 minutes out, any-more than 20 minutes and the vehicle needs to go to a tachograph centre for correction.

UTC time is currently the same as UK local time (GMT).

The time on the display of a digital tachograph is not important except for helping you to keep track of the time, there’s certainly no regulation that requires it to be correct or even near correct.

As long as the UTC time is OK on your records/printouts, that’s all that matters :wink:
