No legal required as to what must be used but there is a legal requirement to ensure that whatever is used must retain the load safely in reasonable conditions
Not a legal requirement as Rog said. Different types of loads need different types of securing a chain in some cases wouldn’t work unless other things are in place. Eg an ordinary trailer with no additional or extra lashing points , you place the chain under the chassis and over theload making the load part of the trailer , where do you chain at the front ■■ Its a matter of common sense. If using straps on anything yous the slip on padded protection to protect the equipment.
