Centre drive position RCV's

A few years back when I drove a dustcart for the local council, they decided to renew the fleet, so we had a few trucks on demo come down. Amongst them was a Merc six legger with a Faun body (I’m sure it was a Faun), a really flash low level, walk through cab, electric folding doors…and a central drive position. You sat in the centre of the cab with your crew either side of you…it was one of the weirdest things I’ve ever driven, neither RHD nor LHD, and took a fair bit of getting used to before I could keep it on the road and off the kerbs!

I never did get a photograph of it, so I’m wondering if anyone else has either driven one, or got a picture of one?

Rich

Never got closer to one than when I photographed this. Sorry it is not a Merc.

The one in the pic is an Atkinson, I only ever saw the Merc…that was more than enough. A most strange beast it was…
