Cb ssb swr

Been given a new fh. Fitted Cb and connected to Volvo antenna and can’t get swr down. Could possibly mount aerial on back of cab, there’s a gromit for work lights there but will be a nightmare feeding coax through to front of the cab. Has anyone got any ideas please? Cb needs to have good swr due to running high power. Had swr down to 1-1 on previous scania… I miss it!!

CB’s in their factory form are only supposed to be 4w on fm, and 12w on ssb unless you have one of the new modern breed which will run up to 50w ssb.

The Volvo antenna is like the DAF one, next to useless, so an external is possibly the way to go.

Have you got a roof spoiler you can hide it behind? What antenna are you thinking? If you are using ssb, I guess you will be looking at something like a Wilson, in which case a magnet on the back of the cab, with a 90 degree bend so the antenna can point upwards. Trouble is, if you run high trailers, then your signal will be hampered. If you can, then try and get to the base of the Volvo antenna, and replace that and put your antenna there instead in free space.

Post some pics of the truck if you can.
