my old man did a few jobs with your dad twinsplitter years ago , they did a fly- by nite job one trip when the steel strike was on, your dad ended up in france somewhere.

My name is Glenn burrows,I worked as a traffic operator in the office late seventies,harry Walton was transport manager Brian Robson cec bell Eddie Charlton Arthur Kennedy Peter crowe were some of the drivers I remember.iwent back in the late eighties doing the same job Alan bird bill kelman were the bosses at that time Les chapman (thorns)Keith tindall Derek codling Geoff gowland(owner driver from haltwhistle,) also worked at Hartlepool (Phil Boyd)and uddingston during managerial changes.some great characters and great memories.

Smith & Dixon, Thats a blast from the past, When I drove for my uncle who owned Smiles for Miles we did work out of Hendon Paper Mill as it was called in the 50/60s era before becomjng Domtar, I used know some of S&Ds drivers, Had some great nights in London in The Crooked Billet pub on Tower Hill, Canny set of lads, Happy long gone days, Regards Larry.
