Caught talking on a Moby

A mate ( seriously ) has just been knicked driving a class 1 whilst on his Moby, he knows it was stupid.

Anyone have any examples of real fines & suspensions for this? From the info I’ve searched it can vary greatly; for now, he has a clean license which may go
In his favour a little.

£60 fixed penalty and 3 points, if it goes to court there’s a maximum fine of £2,500 for HGV or PSV drivers, though I doubt that would be likely unless people were killed because of the offence.

Though according to the GOV.UK website the fixed penalty is £100, I don’t know if it’s gone up or if that’s a mistake.

The way the offence is being hyped up these days I wouldn’t be surprised if a visit to the TC followed a court appearance :frowning:

It went up to £100 some time ago. It was when the ‘new’ penalty for lane hogging was introduced (although it was always an offence)
There seems to be big variations between TC’s taking action based on who they are. I’m sure there was one post on here where someone got an invite for tea and biscuits almost 2 years after the offence.
