As the title says, why have the windows of cars on a transporter open? If it rains won’t they get wet?
Sorry if it is a stupid question that has been asked a squillion times but I just kinda want to know.

Only time Ive seen windows open on cars on a transporter have been ones collected for scrap, in which case it doesnt matter if they get wet and possibly the window or winder may be broken anyway (or flat battery on electric windows).
On a new car it would probably be driver error or alzheimers kicking in, i.e. forgot to close them…dont think Id be very happy if my new car had been transported 100s of miles in all weathers with the windows down.
I did see one the other day with the headlights on full on the top deck of a transporter…hope the driver carries jumpleads because it was in a layby at about midnight
It was earlier today, brand new cars still with the stickers and anti bump foam bits on the doors, ALL the cars had a front window open. Even the ones on the top deck. Both passenger and/or drivers side were open.
on some new cars ( fords & peugeot )when the engine is swithed off the doors lock after a min or 2 maybe that is why the windows were down
So why not unlock them again? surely they have the key?

They normally have the main fuse removed but the alarms still work, but central locking electric windows, mirrors and wipers do not

Trade secret, Best not answered in a public forum
They carry the Cars to france to fit windows,i think
Maybe in case some ■■■■■■ wants tO nick the radio they don’t smash the window to do it?
I’ll preface my answer by saying that I know nothing about the subject, but that doesn’t seem to stop a lot of people on TNUK…
Maybe if the weather’s good, they might leave the keys in the cars (to save the hassle of matching keys back with cars when they need to be taken off), but leave the windows open in case the car central locking activates (so that they can just reach through the window and get the key)?
Maybe the driver ■■■■■■ in the car??
I’ll get my coat! Lol
If the load is coming off the same day and its hot I’ve been known to leave a small gap so the cars don’t end up like ovens, as for windows down completely I would think its just lazyness as in 20 years i’ve never seen a reason to do this. As for the key thing there is a better way around this and all cars are locked.
