Not wanting to derail Ro’s fantasy thread I’ve kicked off a new one for Carryfast’s fantasy Jaguar. Is it real? Is it his? What is its provenance ?
“Exactly where do you get the idea that the photos I posted was ‘prior’ to my ‘stewardship’ ?.Exactly who’s ‘stewardship’ would that be if not mine ?.”
We all know Carryfast’s propensity to use words and ambiguous phraseology that lead us to a wrong conclusion, giving him the out, “I didn’t say that.”.
Here is the opportunity to clear the doubts and find the truth.
I for one, am genuinely interested in the magazine article that was posted by Carryfast. Unfortunately the quality was too poor to enlarge and read. Have you got a link, or can you take better pictures, please?
He won’t believe it unless you show him the V5 and the reg number and the photo of yourself holding it with your house number.
He’s a bit like a phishing scammer.
The fact that copyright of the publisher applies to the article and I’m not into publishing ID contained in it on the net no thanks.
Suffice to say the photos I posted certainly show what I’ve described it’s no fantasy.
As does its present state sitting SORNed at home in the garage where I built it, which I’ll put up when I can be bothered to take some pics.
Ironically my original plan B of buying a Vauxhall/Holden VXR8 would have been the better option with hindsight.Although I hear that the LS V8 heads are having more problems with dropping valve seats, than the Jaguar V12 was known for but which I’ve never experienced.
A bit more modern that mine, my S Type was 20 years old last month, I bought it new in 2004, cost £33000 ish, and with depreciation it’s now worth about 2p.
But it’s a good car and a my age it’s a keeper.
£33,000 over 20 years? About £30 a week then for the car itself.
I’ve just sold a car (bought as an oldie) that has cost me approx nowt in my 5 years of ownership, except fuel, insurance etc.
(That still does not make for all those other cars I bought that were “appreciating cars, soon to become classics” etc etc)
I only think about the good one!
Yep, it’s a lot of depreciation, but I’m happy with my Jaguar, over the years it’s never let me down, it’s trailed all over Europe and Ireland, it once did 4 countries in one day (UK, France, Belgium, Germany) it’s a good car. I chickened out at 130mph on the German autobahn (it was still accelerating)
Oh, and it’s stood up to my wife’s style of driving, she’s voluntarily stopped driving now thank god, she’s 84 years old and she loved ‘lighting the turbos’ up.
