Carrier Fridge

We got a carrier fridge unit in our yard that’s been stood for a few weeks and the yard lads have failed to do their job and start the unit once a week, I’ve gone to start it this morning and it’s dead, if I plug it it will it trickle charge or do I need carrier to be called out
Cheers

Can you get jump leads on the battery or is it locked

Yes it’s open, but the bloody unit that’s under it is dead as well.
Once I’ve got the truck started can I just jump start the fridge off the fork truck ?

In my (limited!) experience of Karrier fridges, it doesn’t charge from the unit’s electrical supply at all - i.e. you’ll still have to jump start the fridge and leave it running to recharge.

Jobs sorted cheers lads, 3 sets of jump leads and a fork truck but it’s going

Oooo…

H&S will shut you down for that lol.

The fridge unit is independent to the unit, the fridge unit charges its own battery’s from its own alternator. If you jump it off it will charge up from the fridge unit running and doesn’t require it to be connected to the unit. Jumping it off is easy enough.

This is where a booster pack comes in handy, no need risking three sets of jump leads connected together, just stand on the fork tynes, up you go and jump it off the booster pack…

Yeah I understood it was an independant unit and charged as it was running, and I knew you can’t run the Diesel engine while plugged in, it was wether it trickle charged off the plug in was possible.
Not to worry I’ll know for next time
Every day is a learning day

When needs must and all that

If it’s on a slope you could always push the shunt valve and try bump starting it.

I was thinking of a pull cord around the fan on the evap

Will trickle charge from mains plug in.

Deffo know thermo king trickle charge off mains

If they fitted them with a crank handle instead of a battery there would be a sudden shortage of fridge drivers [emoji23]

Once you got the unit going you could of used that to jump the fridge although remember to only use one battery on the unit otherwise you’ll fry the fridge

Modern Carrier fridge units do not have a battery they have a block of capacitors.
The only way to start them is to put them on high charge for at least 20 minutes. If you try to stick jump leads on all the current goes straight into charging up the capacitor block and none goes to the starter motor. These super capacitor power units are bloody mega bucks to buy.The actual compressor in the fridge unit is driven off a bloody huge alternator that runs at about 400 volts so keep away from the buggers when they are running. The idea is that unlike Thermoking units the compressor gas circuit is totaly isolated from the drive engine to stop any gas leaks through the drive coupling seals.
And bleeding these things if they run out of diesel is nigh on impossible unless you know the secret.
They can be a right pain!

I have to ask the question, who has told you this?
