Is that correct,it is £30 FPN for having a kellogs number plate. How much FPN for not having one at all.?
Yes it is true, it is the same penalty as having personalised plates with the incorrect spacing or font and no BS Kite mark on the plate, but who knows of anyone who has been done for that?
And motorbike plates at obscure and un-readable angles, and very small numbering/lettering which must be illegal.I got done when i was 16 for no Learner plates on my bike, even though i had 2 L`s,front and back, the front L was at a bad angle.Got done for excess noise, the copper had no measuring device to hear if the exhaust noise was illegal, how would he know without proof, should have challenged the case.

Yes because you have no numberplate. If it doesn’t conform to the regs, its classed as not being present.

The same.

One of our drivers was done for having no plate - same FPN… You might find having the Kellogs version would make you less likely to get pulled over - just depends how pedantic they want to be !!

Urban myth, can one be done for pervision of the course of justice,by not having a plate, one can evade or avoid speed cameras pickinf the reg,and avoid a fine.Read in a paper,a well known snooker They both got nicked and heavy fine for it.
I believe there is a thread on this forum from a respected member of TruckNet & VOSA who suggested that if you are missing a trailer number plate, you won’t be leaving the checkpoint until you have made one.
Obviously if you are pedantic, petulant or prohibitive, you may just get a PG9 until you get a regulation plate

also if i have a number plate off a different unit but write on the back of it in bold letters is this the same as makin a carboard 1 ■■

Exactly the same, home made plate is a home made plate…
… should add that the guy who was done was pulling a plain white fridge, the police that pulled him said that it if had been logo’ed up that they wouldn’t have bothered since he could have been traced by the company / trailer number.
Doubt that VOSA would be that way inclined … …

My wife got nicked this morning for having the letters mis-spaced on her number plate, £60 fixed penalty fine, no warnings or cautions etc

As an aside I’ve heard the DVLA will revoke permission to use these plates if the owner gets caught a few times with incorrectly spaced letters.

Good job I challenged a speeding charge because I know I hadn’t been down the A66 for many years.
They had my registration number OK,but I was at the other end of the country.Turned out they had photographed the trailer, and some prat had one of my trailer number plates on.With doing several trailer swaps every day, each tractor has a couple of number plates as just this sort of thing happens, someone drops a trailer on a bay forgetting to take the number plate off, then another numpty picks up the trailer up and “conveniently” doesn’t put his own number plate on,probably thinking he’s going out without a number plate on,and not realising he’s got the wrong plate on!
I was able to prove with documentation that I was not in the area at the time, and in fact my tacho proved I was not even moving at the time of the alleged offence.

If stopped by plod …
Say Oh no !!! It’s Gone and say that the number plate holder must be to large for the number plate.
( most of them are ) good job I carry a spare and get your number plate and place it in and say that you will defect the holder on your return to the depot…
Just make sure you have a spare …
