Car / Truck Full Annual Service in Europe?

Just wonder if anyone who had been use full annual service for car or truck in Europe?

My car - Skoda Fabia Estate are almost 3 years old so I know here UK dealer garage could be expensive + overcharge for service work!

On next month, I will off to Poland for 3 weeks so I am thinking about of get car full service in Poland - it is more cheaper but is that worth or not due lots of hassle with paperwork or different right / left hand drive? I don’t want to be rip off by garage mechanic because they know I am British or see my car reg plate?

Thanks Ben

Betz,
I had a SAAB in 2002 and wanted its 1st service, I was in France, went to garage in Amiens.

They were worried as 1st service in France is free, I asked how much and its was a lot less in France than England. But it took some convincing that I was willing to pay them!!

Had book stamped, mechanic went through work with me, whilst car on ramp and they also looked after me with coffee and buscuits whilst I waited.

Not ripped off at all and all was in order.

As your car is 3years old you dont need a dealer service but I’d get a price in PL and take your chances. just a problem if they find work that needs doing and you haven’t got time or money whilst in PL.

When I lived in Denmark and had a Danish car the cost of a service was very high as you might expect in such a country. When I hooked up with the future wife and travelled to see her in Poland I gave the local dealer a go at a full service. The cost was much lower, the car was still in warranty, but that was not a problem. In Denmark I had to leave the car for the day, in Poland I bought it in at the time agreed and it was done while I waited, any problems were reported to me and I could agree for extra work to be done or not, they even cleaned the car at the end.

At the time the cost of getting there and back and having the service done was about the same as having the car done in Denmark. This was 6 years ago, but i do think if you are already in Poland the main dealer would be a cheaper option and I would not expect the service to be lesser than the UK, more likely done with more care in my experience.

I have a Polish car now, but its out of warranty and the local mechanic looks after it, got used to not waiting for an appointment, just leave it and he drives it back to the house when he is done.

can’t see it being an issue, as i’ve serviced few non uk regestered vehicle’s, the only issue i had with was the 3rd party part’s factors’ don’t like it when you don’t give a uk reg no… and most can’t do vin’s…

Thanks for your replies so my woman will make some call to Polish garages to find out what is cost and available.

I will let you know any further update
Thanks Ben

A lot of Poles coming home from the UK or Germany to visit Poland will be doing the same thing as you are, so I do think it will be considered normal, as the GF is Polish they will just think its a couple taking a holiday in the home land. I had my DK car in the UK for a year and that was still in warranty, never had a problem the other way around.
