Car transporter companys old and new

 well,it had to happen. When tesco kicks off selling cars big style,Transporter man will be seen high tailing it over to Carlisle to train this new breed of transporter driver.Word is that nugget that chases trains is going to be trained up to be driver trainer, you never know the tart that drives the pink car,she might prefer delivering cars rather than being terrified to go round corners with double shrinkwrapped cream cakes.
The real question is could this just be the start

My first job was at Cartransport at Queenborough. We had a fleet of Merc 1626s, red with a White stripe. I was only a school lever back then not a driver but really enjoyed my time with company. The depot manager was a chap called Rowan Broadbent who gave me a large framed photo of one of the Mercs when i left. We were on the Toyota contract and ended up with Merc 1625s, although these were White with a Red stripe. Does anyone remember these?.

Yes Mark I do, My Dad and Brother were on there at Coventry Depot for many years, I was there in 1990. When I was on general haulage in the late 70’s , I delivered some of the concrete beams for the Toyota building. was this your Merc?

These wagon & drags came after i left. Queenborough didnt have any until ’ B ’ reg if i remember rightly. Cant remember where this one would have been based.

Richborough would be my guess

Yes mate, i think your right. Richborough had Daf 2500s when i was there but i think these Mercs may have replaced them. They were supplied by Sparshatts at Sittingbourne as were our 1625 artics, they also had consecutive number plates starting in FKK.

Seven 2500 Dafs in fleet at one time, all on transporters, good few T45 Roadtrains .
