Any body know if Donaldsons are still going haven’t seen one for a long time also what about Jordans leiecster area?

Eric Donaldson & his wife packed in a few years ago, his brother ran it for a while, the last time I called the yard was shut up.
Tony Jordan sold out, I always enjoyed calling on him as he was a great guy & had several vintage heavy haulage trucks.

You are right it was one of four that was built for Portugal, they were shipped out and worked for about 12 months, We brought them back as they were not suitable you could tell that by the state of the peaks, Hoynor replaced them with drawbars and lenghthened the original tractor units to suit. I think the company in portugal was something like Jamie Diaz, they were painted white with blue sign writing. I had a doubt about loading them with the 4mtr pillars but we got away with a different loading procedure.

Heres the oldy for this week BMC 18ton tractor with Tasker Burtonwood trailer in Normans at Knottingly, there wasn’t many of these trailers built but the carrying capacity was better than the Carrimore Mk2. Derek Pooley was the first driver on this truck Sorry about photo quality.

Marcus22,
The Progressive Commer Carrimore Trideck ran scottish all the time, always loaded back with imps from Linwood it was the only one they had, the driver was Johnny ? a scot, seemed to run any and all hours. They put a Mandator ergo under the trailer and the Commer came to Oxford, I had it for a couple of nights, Bloody Nora it was slow, low geared diff, 38mph top, but it did that uphill and down dale, I asked for a change and was told, that’s your motor now, like it or lump it, I decided to lump it, that was in Oct.1968. I should have hung on because they changed diff soon after.

PS The first sight I had of it was at the Commercial Motor Show, Earls Court.
