I’m no goody two shoes on the road. But it is this attitude that is what’s wrong with Britain today. There is very little on the road that is worth getting worked up about. If you feel you are being tailgated then pull away or over and drop back.
The actions described in your post are at best, childish, and at worst, flat out moronic.
yup, that’s me had my brakes done recently but no takers so far, a couple of close calls though (Y)
Obstructing a lane = illegal
tailgating = illegal
if they are obstructing an overtaking lane, pass on their left. Problem solved and everyone can get on with their journey
Had an issue with this recently on the A2 with a GEO Amey prison van. Driver cut in front of me and then did the braking trick. I over took again and saw them laughing at me so a quick note of the reg number and an email sent next day. Turns out they have full telematics on the vans and after investigating the time I gave them they have taken disciplinary action against the officers involved. I wouldn’t normally have complained but it was a very near miss! Just goes to show that some companies do take an interest in how their drivers behave.

anyone else had this . going through roadworks on m1 yesterday sat in middle lane overtaking a heavy crane doing around 20mph up hill and car driver who had been sat in the middle lane for sevral miles for no apparnt reason doing 45mph decided to jump on breaks so with a coach sat right up my back side and i had 1meter projection of steel overhang on trailer classed it as unsafe to brake due to how close coach was behind me and opted to jump across to 3rd lane to avoid and risks of accidents then car driver proceedes to try jump in front of me trying to take pictures on her phone .
i shall be waiting in hope that she has gone to the police with the evidence and they can clearly see what her game was as i have front faceibg camra
personaly i belive i did correct thing to avoid any accidents but how does the law see it . clearly can be seen that i was correct disance and not tailgating was just typical arrogant car diver
I really wouldn’t worry about whats going on behind me in that situation, if they are to close that’s tough luck on them!
And if a car is sat in middle lane under the limit, I will just return to lane 1 and pass them, Its not illegal to pass on the inside, it only becomes undertaking if you then return to middle lane after passing them.

a brakecheck due to tailgating. I do the latter all the time, never can you find me in the fast lane holding anybody up but if I’m being tailgated then after a couple of hints I will make good use of my brakes, better off having the insurance pay for the respray of my tailgate as it’s getting a bit rusty
Well, with all due respect, you are a bit of ■■■
Did you not see the video posted earlier in the thread? On a busy road one road user playing silly buggers can easily cause a multi-vehicle pile up. Throw a heavy into the mix and you’ve got potential devastation. Of course after all that you’ll sleep easy knowing your taught the tailgater a ‘lesson’
Dash cams imo should be fitted as standard in all new vehicles that roll of the production line as I doubt fitting them would be that expensive. Either that or insurance incentives for having them fitted. Anything to curb the blame & claim insanity thats costing us all a fortune in insurance premiums has to be a good thing.
ever had one of those cars that does about 45-50 mph
then when you go to overtake it starts doing 60
then when you finally overtake it
you pull in front of it and put your exhaust brake on for a couple of seconds so theres no brake lights

it’s only illegal to undertake if you’re gaining an advantage! if traffic is moving slower in the sandwich lane, and traffic is moving faster in the granny lane CARRYON!

No. Never. Why is passing a car like this so important if once you’ve done it you’re going to play silly buggers? any benefit you gain by passing it is lost. If thats your attitude you might as well stay behind it.

well if you say so
I don’t play the “who can react fastest” game to come to a complete stop, I just use it to decelerate quite fast and keep moving. and not to teach a lesson but hopefully get the tailgater to keep a bit of distance from then on.

So if you were correct distance why would it not have been safe to brake, and what would you have done if lane three had not been an option?
I was brake checked about 2 years ago and all because the douchebag that had been following me at 40 mph on a single for all of about 3 miles. This obviously impeded his progress by maybe 30 seconds.
As soon as the overtaking lane came up, he pulls in front and jumped on his brakes.
Days of trying to educate the rest of the world are gone. I’d sooner be a mile down the road than making a point to someone who is stupid enough to need it.

exactly ,whats the point in driving 2 inches behind a slow driver in the middle lane
much safer to undertake
See what I mean…why do some so called professional drivers think they can decide whether something is safe or not?
There are rules of the road for a good reason and drivers who break them are totally irresponsible.
If a driver hogs a lane lane(which he or should not do) a professional truck driver would not try to intimidate or force the other driver to move.
They would simply keep a safe distance and wait for an opportunity to overtake.
It is frustrating with all bad driving by car drivers but why do truck drivers make things worse by driving like big bullies?
Of you approach a vehicle in lane 1, pass vehicle in lane 2 while you are in lane 1, and then continue your journey in lane 1 you have not undertaken. You have merely kept in your lane making normal progress.
If you approach from lane 2, move into lane 1 to pass and then return to lane 2 then that’s an undertake.

i knew a lad who did that, thinking he was being clever… only the 44 tonner didn’t brake, AT ALL! im sure you can all imagine the devastation! Anyhow he lived to tell tale, although he had his licence revoked for a couple of years for dangerous driving!
its only really going to EVER end one way!
its ■■■■■■■ stupid, and “professional drivers” shouldnt rise to it…
