I have just read all the comments from all the people on here, thank you so much for your concerns. I will never forget that phone call on Thursday when i could have lost the love of my life and my reason for living. On Thursday I bought Rog a single red rose the first time since we have known each other, I could not wait for him to come home to give it to him.By the time Rog came home and I saw the look on his face I was never so thankful in my whole life to see him.I do not know what Rog would I done without you all I think you are a wonderful load of folks and want to thank each one of you all. When It finally hit Rog last night it broke my heart to see him like that. Today is another day and Rog is smiling and I even got a bunch of flowers, things are slowly getting sorted out and we will be OK. Take care all of you
Regards Jeannette.

hi guys,i’m really enjoying this forum…i’m a class one holder but i repair hgv’s for a living and tow all sizes including artics…i have a small story regarding lines of trucks and this was mainly my own fault, and was a fair few years ago…here goes.
i got called out one night to mercedes sk unit that had no throttle(linear motor failure)…i took a spare unit out to the m5 just short of frankley services on the southbound side…this was early hrs of the morning and the traffic was light…the unit swopover took place without incident…i waited for the recovery truck for a while and recieved a phone call from the wrecker driver…‘could i limp it upto frankley?’ so he could do a rear lift saving taking the prop pff and winding the brakes off…ok,i thought frankley was only about 2 mile away so i set off…at a sedate pace at tickover rpm…screwing out the tickover control on the steering column gave me a few more hundreds of rpm and improved things a little upto about 20 mph…i stayed on the shoulder with the hazards on…until…i got to the area where the stantions of the bridges over the motorway take up the hard shoulder…i stopped checked the traffic then pulled out into lane 1 passed the stantion then back onto the shoulder.,this was ok for a couple of stantions until we started to go uphill a little.
i pulled out into lane 1 and crawled past this stantion and in the distance headlights appeared…i looked in the mirror then out the rear window,a line of trucks was gaining at what seemed like great speed(but was only the limiter speed i suppose).the first artic pulled out with loads of time to spare and sailed past in lane 2,artic no 2 left it a little later but cleared easily, artic no 3 left it late but still passed ok…artic 4 panicked and locked up his trailer brakes while swerving past…and following up the rear a 7.5 ton truck locked up everything and goodness only knows how he missed me,the central barrier and the next bridge stantion as he re-gained control.
all trucks were from the same parcel company in white with red/blue stripes.none of them stopped which i was pretty glad about!
this happened at about 3am and i pulled it onto frankley and extracted the seat from the crack of my backside while waiting for the wrecker.

You can leave or make space around you as much as you can, ,you can plan escape routes until they are coming out your ears. You can still be hit.How does that work then? If you have sufficient space around you for it to be coming out of your ears what’s going to hit you.
So what about the TV advert for Zurich Insurance? Car park and falling jet engine!!!

or frozen wee from a passing aeroplane , or even worse frozen crap from the same place ,or bits from an old satellite . I’ll dismiss a lightning bolt as you’d be sat in a faraday cage .
Just got round to this thread. Glad to hear you’re okay Rog.
Glad you are ok ROG.
You stay safe

I.de hate that to happen to anyone.!

It was lovely to see a post from the wife of a trucker and we all know that when our partners are away from home we worry about them. The drivers, male or female work hard and look forward to going home to their families. Stay safe and watch out for the idiots on the roads.
Hi scanialady142
