Hi Everyone,
The reason I am here on this web site is because I have been looking for anyone or anything to do with Capels Transport and my search led me here.
Many years ago my father worked for this company for approx 11yrs before moving to felixstowe, suffolk,His name was,and still is Fred Harrison, I would love to hear from anyone who remembers him or anyone who has any pictures of the trucks they ran,ie,the LAD cabbed Dodges or Leylands,Guy worriers and later Big 'j’s, I have a couple of pic’s of dads trucks, one of an ergo cab Leyland and one of a Guy big ‘j’ in the colours of ‘National Freight’.I remember well the loads of knocked down tractors from Banner Lane,Coventry that went for export from Harwich,I remember ‘Seatrain’ containers and the loads of new wheels for the then Leyland car factory at Cowley,Oxford. If anyone can help please get intouch.
For my sins I too became a driver (its in the blood I guess).I have been a driver for the past 28 yrs though recently I have turned my attention to the role of driver/trainer/assesser for Wincanton Container Logistics based at Alconbury Airfield,Cambs.I look forward to hearing from you, thanks in advance,
Kev.
Hello Kevin, I remember Caples, in fact i live just down the road in Kenilworth, I’ve done many a load of CKD and built up tractors from banner lane, infact I worked for Richard Ford when he had a depot in Balsall Common, the old Satchwell Parcels place, There are a couple of photos on here of Caples one I think in the Scrapbook Memories thread but you’ll have to search for it, the other is in the Coventry Companies thread. good hunting.
Hi Stanley - are you still around? We live at Rose Cottage in Balsall common, would be good to connect!
