Just been speaking to a potential employer in Alberta, told me he’s got LMO approval etc. and needs 1 more driver for next year. The pay is approx. $5-6000 per month, running mainly western Canada and some U.S. too. Then proceeds to tell me that this salary only applies to his trucking company and he now wants me to work for his harvesting firm instead on $2,300 a month!! Huh!! Very nice, eh?? Talk about taking one in the sack !!! Told me not to worry 'cause the experience will be worth it!! . Is this Canadian humour at it’s best or what??
When you consider that harvesting days can be very long (i.e. 16-17hrs) if the weather and crops are good, it’s not hard to work out that the hourly rate ain’t exactly great .
I obviously know that harvesting isn’t that well paid BUT, it’s still below the belt to offer 5-6k and then in the next breath drop to $2,300 right??
Is he taking the (zb) or what■■?
Tell him you are allergic to grain dust but can easily do 10 to 14 hrs a day driving long haul. I have been talking to someone today as well told him I worked at Big Freight but got sacked for getting stuck, that I am in the process of getting my passport renewed. He asked when can I start. Its van not deck but its work.
Heard about a driver the other day he was driving through the White Bear Indian reserve thru a rod in his truck came right out the side of the block. While he was standing there a pickup truck pulled up had 5 native chaps in it. They asked him whats wrong he told them piston broke, they said oh thats ok get in we are ■■■■■■ and broke too.
A scot moved to Canada so the company, had another driver go with him on his first trip. A few miles east on Ont17 the passenger points out the window and says " there is one of our Canadian Moose " the Scot looks out the window and says." Jesus Christ if thats what your mose are like I ate to see one of ur cats"
Did you hear the cosmetic surgery joke from Ontario yet??
Guy goes to private clinic in Toronto to have a consultation regarding the latest medical procedure… NO, it’s not a facelift or owt like that, he wants to become a Newfie!!! Surgeon says, “FFS are you sure? Newfoundland?? The operation involves removing 1/3 of your brain!!” Patient says, “Yep definitely, give me a consent form and let’s get it done”. Anyway, during the procedure the surgeon sneezes and unfortunately removes 2/3 of the man’s brain. Distraught with guilt, the surgeon keeps a bed-side vigile of the patient whilst fully expecting to be struck off the medical register… He’s amazed when the man regains consciousness and nervously blurts out, “OMG I’m so sorry, I’ve made a terrible mistake,” to which the patient replies, "Monsieur!! Je ne compris pas, qu’avez-vous dit??
On a more serious note, the Albertan now wants me to join his trucking co., so I COULD be heading back to Canada next spring…
a gynecologist deals with the inside parts not the outside. Last time I saw mine was for a blocked tube. Very painful and I hope I never have another. With outer problems thats just a GP.

This employer knows you can do harvest work with no problems from imigration, then send you home again … DO NOT DO IT
You will be used and abused, worked to death and sent home to England when you are done.
I said I COULD be going back, not I WILL be going back. After politely telling him to stick the job up his ring-piece he now wants to be all friendly. On about going to the labour board for another approval, blah, blah, blah… I won’t be taking a job from anybody now untill I meet them face to face, if that’s not acceptable then so be it. If I don’t go back it’s not the end of the world, I’ll still be able to survive… BTW, isn’t Whitehall near Lake George/Saratoga Springs (I-87)■■ I worked out of Pittsfield, MA. for a while, went to all kinds of lovely destinations like Malta, Clifton Park, Schenectady, Scotia and downtown Albany, not exactly what I had in mind when told I was going to New York for a month.

If was to walk over the mountain behind our house I would arrive at the east shore of Lake George
Couple of questions… Are DOT still working the services nr. Clifton Park & more importantly… Have you ever met Cmndt. Lassard/Mahoney/Hightower etc■■? (Think about it, West Mass. Pike/Hudson river area).
