I live in Canada and might be looking to cross the pond to work in the UK as a driver. I currently hold my Class 1 or AZ truck license for Canada and wondering if it is transferable to the UK. I know I can drive non-commercial vehicles if holidaying in UK but wonder what rules are for commercial licenses. Any help/direction would be greatly appreciated. Cheers from Canada.

The DVLA website will confirm but I think that’s the limit on a non EU licence.
Most drivers seem to want to go to Canada to work not do it the other way around
May be he wants to find out why alot of UK driver’s are winging moaners that want a full days pay just for turning up for work
Not valid in UK - you would need to take the relevant LGV tests
Thanks for the info…My wife is looking for opportunities in her field in the UK and me and my son would of course follow.

Trust me you get a lot of the same here…that or you never get any home time.
Fergus,
Do you have dual citizenship ?
or would you be working for a Canadian company, driving a Canadian registered vehicle here ?
If no, to either, then the first issue, is you would be working illegally… regardless of driving licence(s) status.
